And, just for the record, she spent her time on the board fighting for minority hiring, raises and promotion policies. She also tried to raise issues of environmental awareness but by her own admission they just rolled their eyes when she brought it up.

(32,611 posts)I see her time on the board (about 4 years I think) as a positive. She knows how they think, how they talk and, this is most important, they will talk to her. Think the other candidates can get them in a room? NOPE
So the blather about her speeches where she takes money from them to help the poor shows a serious level of juvenile thinking. I think most of it is based on her gender and they probably don't even realize it.

(135,425 posts)they did it to shut her up. To their shock, she proved that the concept could work, look good, and--a biggie for those cheap bastards--SAVE MONEY.
Most of the "innovations" in that store (recycled materials, a recycling program, using natural light and graywater, e.g.) became SOP for future efforts across the retail industry.
That was a big deal, what she did-- she doesn't get enough credit for that, either.

"So Mr. Walton turned to a young lawyer who just happened to be married to the governor of Arkansas, where Wal-Mart is based: Hillary Rodham Clinton"
Walmart is based in Arkansas, which is where she lived with her husband who was governor there. Nothing wrong with a young attorney wanting to gain experience and not let their education go to waste.

(30,058 posts)of 2008 and work for the person in which she conceded the election. She does love this country more than continuing with a grudge. This will be the same ability in which she will use in trying to get Congress to compromise and start being functional again. This is a leader the US needs. I will be working hard for Hillary in her quest for the office of president. She had advocated for issues of women, children and health, she will not stop working.

(13,190 posts)Excellent video nothing in that video paint her as some rightwing democrat as bad as the republicans. As I've been hearing from some Bernie Sanders supports. This guy called up Mark Thompson's show spewing the bullshit that Hillary is just as right wing as most republicans.Personally I think a lot of these so called Bernie supporters are under cover trolls from the republican party saying they are for Sanders then they go into this tirade about Hillary.

They are predictable.

(53,072 posts)are insulted as Third Way, aligned with Goldman Sachs and the 1 percent--often by people far more affluent than those they insult. One person who I know is affluent insults LGBT people and poor people that way all the time. Another announced that corporations had sent women and people of color into the Democratic party to subvert it from its true mission. A number of others spent days insisting that their right to hurl misogynist insults trumps a woman's right to be treated with respect. When polls come out showing that people of color do not favor their candidate, they call them "uninformed" and "low information voters" and even target with alerts a black member who said she did not like Sanders. They have also responded to simple questions about Sanders record and accomplishments with hostility and profanity. They make clear they hold him, a politician, above the citizens he seeks to represent. The entire ethos they present is anti-egalitarian. They target not the 1 percent and corporations but ordinary Democratic voters who fail to fall inline with their orthodoxy, all while willfully and repeatedly falsifying Secretary Clinton's record.
You could say you see Clinton supporters as doing the same but that is the kind of false equivalency cable news specializes in. The numbers of Clinton supporters are few, and they do not have the numbers to even engage in that kind of behavior. The resentment of Clinton voters is that they even exist. People here are using the jury system to rid the site of the Clinton supporters that remain. They may indeed be successful with that, but it has no bearing on the election. It only makes the site even more homogeneous, which is in fact the goal of some.
I have learned a lot about who people are. They have made clear they see me and others who don't adhere to the proscribed orthodoxy as the enemy, as inferior. You cannot claim to be part of a people's movement when you target as the enemy the people.
Sanders seems to be a good man with strong values. He has asked for a positive campaign. His supporters here reject his leadership and even denounce the very argument in favor of a positive campaign as Third Way. That is why I think this has far less to do with Sanders and the election than in the efforts by some here to proclaim their own, entirely undeserved, sense of superiority over the many. All of this behavior is entirely antithetical to Sanders values, yet none of that seems to matter even a little bit to members here. That they are systematically turning people off to their candidate is entirely inconsequential to them. They promote their own goals, even as they are ad odds with Sanders.

I read she is going to talk about her mom for one thing.
But as Clinton transitions to a new, more intense phase of her campaign, expect her to get personal.
At Clintons first official campaign rally this Saturday in New York City, aides say the Democratic presidential candidate will make her most extensive pitch yet on why she should be president. And her late mother, Dorothy Rodham, will play a central role.
snip
Over the years Clinton has often shared her mothers life story, which was full of trauma and abuse. In Clinton's telling, Dorothy Rodham was abandoned by her parents as a young girl and sent to live with her unloving paternal grandparents in California. At the age of 14 she left home and found work as a housekeeper.

I've seen the speech where she got thunderous applause saying that about gay rights in a more friendly venue, but just as important.
Saying that where the practice of killing baby girls was literally taking place then as well as forced abortion, that took the strength of one's beliefs and principles. But then, elling the truth emboldens us.
She changed the world for some of the most oppressed women. Her reputation for this and other works abroad is never discussed in media seriously. It's just 'women stuff.'
And the work is not over yet. I believe that empowering women will end so much evil in the world. Controlling women - as the means of reproduction - is a factor in wars, famine, ecological damage through overpopulation and is not being in tune with the Earth.
The possibilities are endless, it is a world view never imagined by most and deeply resisted by Power. Her words on voting in Texas have already changed it. The rightwing knows she means business about Rights.
Her record shows she can be the second feminist POTUS:
The First Feminist President, Barack Obama
by Mandy Van Deven
March 23, 2009
On January 20th the first self-identified feminist was named President of the United States of America. Just two days after taking office, Barack Obama performed his first presidential act of solidarity with women around the world by repealing the Global Gag Rule. Established in 1984 by President Reagan, the Global Gag Rule denies aid to international groups "which perform or actively promote abortion as a method of family planning."
The Global Gag Rule has come to be seen as a litmus test of the current US President's stance on women's rights, though it is just one aspect of the complicated story of the impact of American reproductive rights policy in countries around the globe. [17]
After witnessing the impact of President Bush's reinstatement of the Global Gag Rule, Michelle Goldberg, journalist, author, and long-time critic of the Bush Administration's policies on sexual and reproductive health, decided that a book about the global battle for reproductive justice was long overdue. So she wrote The Means of Reproduction: Sex, Power, and the Future of the World. [17]
The cover art depicting a woman holding the Earth on her shoulders is more than appropriate for this deeply-researched, historically-informed examination: fifty years worth of research about four continents has convinced Goldberg that women's oppression is at the crux of many of the world's most intractable challenges. She illustrates how US policies act as a catalyst for or an impediment to women's rights worldwide, and puts forth a convincing argument that women's liberation worldwide is key to solving some of our most daunting problems.
"Underlying diverse conflicts - demography, natural resources, human rights, and religious mores - is the question of who controls the means of reproduction," she writes. "Women's intimate lives have become inextricably tied to global forces."
http://rhrealitycheck.org/article/2009/03/23/controlling-means-reproduction-an-interview-with-michelle-goldberg/
The war on women is not just a war on women, but on men, too. Men who don't support women's rights are sealing their own fate.
Not just an American problem. It is about global control and reducing all of mankind to commodities.

(53,072 posts)Even when I opposed Clinton in 2008, I recognized then she has a remarkable perseverance. She does not give up, and that is an important trait. And contrary to the fabricated and demonized narratives created about her, she indeed does fight for the poor and underprivileged. Her record shows just that.
Women's rights are human rights, and human rights are women's rights.

She didn't lead on anything in the Senate and was in a support role as SoS. Heavy lifting on foreign policy was done by Obama and Biden.
This is the kind of soft-focus, vapid video that is shown during the convention for a nominee. She really does think she has this wrapped up already and doesn't have to fight for our vote.
