a beautiful, liberal, generous free spirit who gave to homeless ever night was murdered last night

WICHITA, Kan. -
Wichita police have booked a man into the Sedgwick County Jail in connection with the death of Tanya Tandoc, the owner of Tanya's Soup Kitchen.

Officers were called out to Tandoc's home, located in the 200 block of S. Minneapolis, around 11:30 Thursday night for a welfare check. A friend said he had been unable to contact her for 24 hours

this woman quietly did so much in her short 45 years of life -more than most ever do in 80 years of life.

At the end of each night she would take what was left in the restaurant and feed all the homeless she could find. She would help anyone and everyone and that is probably what got her killed.

My heart is breaking

I don't understand this master plan of the universe. Beautiful loving generous GOOD people die (Tanya and Beau) and evil hateful selfish ones seem to live on on and on (Cheney) Good people would love and treat kids like gold (the little couple) others get more than they need and treat them like shit (duggars, Khate and 8)

I just don't get it.

A beautiful tribute

Very tragic. I'd agree that the master plan makes more sense because there is no plan. Arugula Latte Jun 2015 #23

1. Roommate arrested in death of Tanya Tandoc

The police are not giving a reason as of now.

Officers were called out to Tandoc's home, located in the 200 block of S. Minneapolis, around 11:30 Thursday night for a welfare check. A friend said he had been unable to contact her for 24 hours.

Officers went to Tandoc's home and spoke with her roommate. He said he had not seen Tanya.

Minutes later, police said the man called 911 and said he had killed his girlfriend. He then went outside and told the officers the same thing.

your girlfriend doesn't stick you in the basement.

And that's where the sadness comes in-- she did a good thing for a fellow human but turns out he was insane.

Good people like her are few and far these days, such a shame her life was taken by a loser. May she rest in peace.

why do bad things happen to good people?

I guess if it was any other way it would be too predictable
and life just isn't supposed to be predictable.

I hope she's at rest.

One of the biggest mysteries in life to me has always been ...why do bad things happen to good people?

Because there is no master plan of the Universe, and there is no God (my personal belief). Life is a crap shoot. Sometimes we get lucky and sometimes we don't. Being a big hearted person put her in a position to be hurt by someone she was trying to help. Not her fault, but maybe a lesson on naivete? Maybe women living alone should not take chances like this? I wish I could bring a homeless person into my home and help them, but I am not brave enough to do that. I've had enough scares and lessons from people I've reached out to.

It is profoundly sad that things like this happen...but we wake up and take one step after another every day...not knowing what our fate will be.

this man had a business across the street from her restaurant.. it went belly up and Curt was going to be homeless. Tanya offered a basement rather than see him homeless.

That he is claiming he loved her...bullshit. He is an alcoholic and a complete insane

She's practically an institution around here and is beloved by everyone.

A talented chef, managed a successful business, served the community in many ways.

RIP.

It is hard to understand why evil seems to live on and on, while god and decent perish al too soon.

That's a major reason I am an atheist.
