In the midst of all this word woe I was inspired to go watch a few Lenny Bruce clips

This place has rules. You break them, you invite the consequences. I get it, but it got me trippin... Words and symbols are interesting; the power we give them, and in turn let them have over us. There are a few classic LB bits dealing with disarming words and robbing them of their power to hurt. Because of the controversial and potentially inflammatory nature of some of these clips, I won't link to any cuz I don't wanna get 86'd. Love to all.

The clip I saw, from the Dustin Hoffman movie Lenny, made the point I've made many times on here. We give words power. We can take it away. Who really benefits from these magic, powerful words? The same people who benefit from any puppetmaster divisive tool, like racism, sexism, homophobia, agism, etc. The magic words are just another item in the fascist toolbox.

Words don't have power; people give them that power. That's exactly the point he was making in that routine.

Best rock journalist ever. His wars w/ Lou Reed were epic in the pages of CREEM, and I loved Lou Reed.

I mean, if any of us (including myself) were to use the word that starts with a "P" and ends in a "K" when say referencing DICK CHENEY for instance.. would my post be subjected to alert, and subsequently hidden wrt to TOS or even tombstoned? or if in reference to Lindsey Graham (or any of the other ass hats the repukes are lining up for the races) or If I used the term "d**k" etc. would that be considered a violation worthy of a hide or banishment?

The fact that I must use silly symbolisms as a fig leaf to avoid being admonished is disturbing to me.

Then came acceptance ("Well, just accept it...after all the English used to go nuts with the simple word "bloody&quot

But today I've read on DU Prick, Dick, Penis, Balls (or lack of)
I better not say what I'm thinking (it's something a jockey will do to the horses tomorrow at Belmont) LOL!
