making a Kardashian associate the face of this issue. There's just not much that's likable or laudable about Jenner, who has not really accomplished much other than being a great athlete, does not seem to be a particularly good person, and who would have faded into obscurity long ago if not for marrying into a circus.

Manning was out of control and mean. The young woman still has bad dreams about Manning.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/02/18/bruce-jenner-crash-video_n_6708802.html

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Video shows Bruce Jenner started a chain-reaction crash that resulted in a woman's death on a Malibu highway, a law enforcement official told The Associated Press on Wednesday.

Jenner was hauling an off-road vehicle on a trailer behind his Cadillac Escalade on Feb. 7 when he steered to avoid cars slowing for a traffic light in front of him on Pacific Coast Highway, the official said.

Jenner's SUV rear-ended two cars, pushing a Lexus into oncoming traffic, the official added.

The driver, Kim Howe, 69, was killed when it was struck head-on by a Hummer.

Caitlyn is getting as much mileage out of this as possible, and I really tend to doubt when all is said and done, her story will have advance sympathy for transgenders as a whole in any way measurable...it's about Caityln, not about transgenderism.

WTF?

I'd love to know how stating that Jenner is a "reality" TV personality whom I don't care for fits any definition of "concern trolling", and you can "note" whatever you like.

Your facile characterization of someone expressing a genuinely held opinion is noted - in bold, in my large notebook of things noted.

Yeah, that's concern trolling. Spare me the edgy reality TV show hate. People can despise the Kardashians and not drag that shit into a discussion about Jenner's transition. Those that can't either have an agenda or need to grow the fuck up.

50. I did not express any "concern" for the trans community
Wed Jun 3, 2015, 06:00 PM
Jun 2015

I expressed my opinion of Jenner.

The OP is not about "Jenner's transition".

The OP poses the question of why Jenner has gotten so much publicity, whereas Manning has not.

The reason is that Jenner is a media personality, and has been one for a while. That observation is directly relevant to the question posed in the OP. The OP is about "Jenner's fame" and its origins, and is not a discussion of trans people in any larger, more general sense whatsoever.

As I had posted elsewhere, "A vacuous media personality has made an important development in her life."

I said nothing about any community whatsoever. My own son, formerly my daughter, had transitioned to be who he is today, and is a wonderful person. Jenner is not. So, do tell me about my "agenda".

I'm sorry that you believe my opinion about any individual needs to be informed by with what classification of persons they may be grouped.

Ben Carson is an African-American political candidate. He is also one of the leading morons of our time. That he is African American has nothing to do with him being a moron, and it is not "concern trolling" to express my opinion on his aptitude for the office of president either.

And, as you seem to be interested in me and my motivations, I sent the alert on the one-post troll who joined the thread below.

brief auto-racing career, business success. Married for decades with three children. Divorced this year and almost immediately declared self trans in TV interview. So there's a high-profile person, known to and admired by many Americans. I had no idea who Jenner was, cuz I don't follow sports, don't watch TV, don't pay attention to cars, and haven't been interested in aircraft supply: that probably puts me on the fringes of mainstream America

Manning: Joined the army in 2007 at age 19. Was unhappy there and within a few years was awaiting separation. Meanwhile released a large number of documents. Exposed and arrested in 2010. Convicted in 2013 at age 25 and sentenced to 35 years, with first possibility of parole in 2021. This history doesn't produce the level of name-recognition Jenner had. People who followed the Manning story in any detail probably associate Manning with some Australian guy who's hiding in an embassy to avoid being charged with sexual assault in Sweden, so Manning's story doesn't produce the same fanbase Jenner had
