Scott Walker: Pregnancy from Rape Only an Issue in ‘Initial Months’

by Matt Wilstein | 12:26 pm, June 3rd, 2015

Wisconsin governor and likely 2016 Republican presidential candidate Scott Walker waded into politically fraught territory this week when he indicated that he would be willing to sign a bill in his state that would outlaw abortion after 20 weeks even if those pregnancies resulted from rape or incest.

“I mean, I think for most people who are concerned about that, it’s in the initial months where they’re most concerned about it,” Walker told reporters. “In this case, again, it’s an unborn life, it’s an unborn child and that’s why we feel strongly about it.” He said he is prepared to sign the legislation “either way” state lawmakers send it to him.

Issues surrounding rape and abortion have doomed candidates in the recent past, most notably in the case of Todd Akin, who coined the term “legitimate rape” and subsequently lost his Senate race in Missouri.

While these latest comments could help Walker move ahead of his fellow Republicans in states like Iowa, they are likely to come back to haunt him in a general election scenario against Hillary Clinton.

It is not Mr. Walker's business nor his place to make such a decision.

Seriously, if the media outlets were even remotely honest about this scumbag they would just do a basic Minnesota vs Wisconsin comparison and see which state is doing better economically.

The sad part is he has worked up just enough conserva-cred in a backwater state that he wrecked with dumb trickle down policies and union busting but somehow managed to avoid the press enough that he might end up being their candidate.
