(182,834 posts)I completely agree with her.
She had a great call in to C-Span's morning show railing on W&Co. The host at one point said "Is this Cher?" She acknowledged that it was her.

(5,178 posts)But can financially back them by aligning themselves with the very corporations funding the bastards.
It is why the politician may go away, but the bad ideas keep hanging around.
It is why we keep voting for change, but keep getting more of the same.

(13,877 posts)party and all that emerges is Their Candidate with all the talking points. Bernie wants to shake it up and make it more like the English Parliament where they have a free for all...literally. I've watched it a couple of times and I was surprised...actually back and forth, still with the British Decorum, but they were chopping each other up...vebally.
Yes, even if he has to "go rogue" and start bipartisan debates immediately, the Republicans must be confronted both with what all of their "leaders" parrot, and an opposing viewpoint. Like Bernie said, not just debate, but argue your point. Only around 40% vote, and he says this is why and I believe him. He's after the other 60% who do not think it matters any more. And more power to him.

(5,178 posts)We move forward by critical thinking, logic and the free expression of ideas. To suppress, to frame, to dilute that experience is to stand in the way of progress.
It is the difference between watching a debate on Hannity or Maher. We need more real time with all our leaders and ideas.

(13,877 posts)Conservatives. Liberals think. Conservatives react. Liberals use all of their brain...Conservatives, just the Lizard Brain.
But it's time the two actually meet and greet and cuss and discuss. It will be the most enlightening event of our political lifetimes.

(15,303 posts)Just to bolster your points; there have been many studies that show the more conservative the individual, the more fearful, risk-averse, tribal.
Us happy liberals jumping from branch to branch will irritate them and probably provoke them into violent acts of shooting and eating.
It's not hard to see a lizard's tongue flicking out from the mouths of the (soon to be ex) Senate leader, or from the pearly-whites of the kochs' ravenous gullet.

(20,450 posts)war criminal too. It isn't just Cheney! It's Bush.
And that "I'm a dummy" schtick that Bush has? It's an act! He's no dummy and he's no idiot. He uses that to appeal to the dumb voters who support him. But he is just as culpable as Cheney, Rice, and the rest of the criminal cabal on the right.
I wish we, particularly liberals, would not dismiss W's role in the war crimes. He is just as responsible, if not, more so than Cheney and the rest.

(22,822 posts)Cheney may have been the brains of the outfit, but Bush had the power, and was only too willing to be the macho man.

(15,303 posts)In that case I give him much more credit.
Not only a painter but an actor!
Since he is really from New England (Maine/CN) he is also a amateurish mimic of "Texan".
I guess the only thing he couldn't fake well was his military service.
Or his Yalie grades.
Or his understanding of the Middle East (they're all Arabs, right?)
Or his ability to look in another leader's eyes and see God.
Or his leadership and empathy for the 99% of this country.
But he did get extra credit for his Texas ranch bush clearing.
