Nah, it is sad and pathetic as hell. Leave the poor man to suffer all his life. That fella could be any of us, down on our luck and someone that exists way beyond our reality comes by in a nice buggy.

The rich man ALWAYS has his own method for dealing with the poor - look away and pretend there is nobody there.

Trouble is when the numbers get so great, there is nowhere to turn to look away anymore.

Hmm...maybe a space station, like in that movie.

Probably easier to keep mendicants at bay.

That mass consumerism and ultra nationalism could create a caste that doesn't even feel the pot as the water starts to boil.

Foxnews tells them they have TVEEs and refrigerators...so they are NOT part of the peasant class...merely 'hard working Americans'.

BIG DIFF donchaknow!

The Dutch rode horses on their highways during the 1970s oil crisis
http://factually.gizmodo.com/the-dutch-rode-horses-on-their-highways-during-the-1970-1670022509

~snip~

The oil crisis of the 1970s meant that Americans had to wait in long lines to fill up their cars. But in the Netherlands, the government decided that the best way to conserve fuel was to ban cars for one day a week. How did people cope? They took their horses on the highway.

~snip~

People even decided to have picnics on the highway. The picture below is sometimes passed around by idiotic "history pictures" accounts on Twitter as being from the United States. But as you can see, the photos are very clearly from the Netherlands.

They didn't even have software to tell them how to calculate and program and design. So many different fields had to come together to even imagine the concept, much less invent it.

Doing the math on paper, they changed the world.

That the cannons and rockets found an aerial platform I'm not sure would make it more horrifying to someone who witnessed the gruesomeness of those battlefields. But agreed, that America and Mankind had not let go of war as a glorious and worthwhile concept could put a damper on one's final years.
