At the end of a busy day of campaigning in the Iowa Quad-Cities, Sanders held a town-hall-style gathering at St. Ambrose University.
U.S. Sen. Rand Paul and former Sen. Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania both made stops in Davenport earlier in the day.
Saying he was surprised with the number of people in attendance, the longest-serving independent member of Congress in U.S. history told the 500-plus person crowd his campaign isnt all about him.

The crowds are incredible.
Here in Davenport along the banks of the Mississippi River, more than 650 people were at Bernies first stop on his first trip to Iowa after announcing his candidacy for the Democratic Party presidential nomination. The crowd of 500+ may be largest for an individual candidate in Iowa this year, The New York Times Trip Gabriel tweeted. He said there were chants of Bernie, Bernie as the senator arrived at the meeting room on the campus of St. Ambrose University.
Sanders spoke and answered questions for nearly two hours in remarks that focused on the economy. He attacked big business and billionaires and said that the gap between the rich and everyone else is growing wider, according to Iowa newspaper and television reports.

Sanders has a few more Iowa events this weekend - I hope the turnout is good at those, too.

I dunno, I think what is happening is very clear! People are waking up to the idea of people talking honestly and openly about the issues rather than giving oblique platitudes. Bernie is unlike any politician most people have listened to (unless you happen to have lived in Minnesota).
