About half of Canadians think he is completely innocent. I agree he was a child soldier so he should be out. But his father did live with and advise Osama bin Laden in the run up to 9/11, and took his sons with him. For this reason I refuse to watch the interview tonight on the CBC. And I hope he is truly as decent as his dimples make him appears to be. And that he makes something of his life.

(9,688 posts)He was kept in chains, in a state of helplessness and hopelessness for years. He was left to the devices of torture-murderers, heartless clinical technicians of evil, by Stephen Harper's gov't.
I totally despise Stephen Harper for that. Harper made me ashamed to be a Canadian.

(9,688 posts)The torture murderers who had their way with Omar, for *years*, were a piece of work.
They got away with it.
In the highest places they were called "patriots", and excused because they were caught up in the emotion of the moment, etc. -- the kind of excuse they wouldn't give to a 15 yr old kid.
The evil fucks.

(50,453 posts)There is a real question as to whether he threw the grenade that killed the American medic. He was tortured over a 13 year period, his 'confession' is less than worthless, imo.
Kudos to his lawyer and his wife for taking him in, helping him to adjust to his new life.
