Coulter: Obama never could have been elected in this country but for Teddy Kennedy’s 1965 immigration act

Never, never, ever, ever!”

Even the title of her latest book, ¡Adios, America!: The Left’s Plan to Turn Our Country Into a Third World Hellhole, is guaranteed to raise many folks’ blood pressure and strain their credulity.

Using language that many doubtless will find hair-raising if not downright offensive, Coulter speaks of the “browning of America”—a term she says she adopted as a negative after seeing it bandied favorably on MSNBC—and how the country is being ruined by an influx from Latin America, the Indian subcontinent, Vietnam, Nigeria, and other benighted locales. “In Nigeria, everyone is a criminal,” Coulter claims.

Coulter’s politically quixotic prescription: a 10-year moratorium on all legal immigration; a complete dismantling of the immigration bureaucracy, not only government agencies and sympathetic elected officials but also outside advocacy groups; the erection of an impassable fence along the entire U.S.-Mexican border (in her book, she praises the Communist East Germans for effectively, sometimes lethally, preventing their citizens from breaching the Berlin Wall); and a return to pre-1965 policies that give preference to highly-educated, usually white Europeans.

Coulter’s beau ideal is a two-time presidential candidate who insists he isn’t running this time around: 2012 Republican standard-bearer Mitt Romney. He is the only politician whose immigration policies—including his much-derided notion from the 2012 campaign that illegal residents should be incentivized to “self-deport”—are closely aligned with Coulter’s, and she hopes that GOP primary voters will ultimately beg him to get into the 2016 race.

When I get too focused on policy differences between Democrats, I is worth noting how totally off-the-wall the far-right is on any number of issues - in this case, Coulter on immigration. Retired East German border guards might have jobs waiting for them after all. "Walls don't work unless you are willing to shoot those who get over, under or around them."

republican presidential candidates she supports Mitt because of his "self-deportataion" stance. Not sure whether she thinks that "self-deportation" would actually work or that it's failure would be the motivation to build that impenetrable wall on our southern border and staff it with retired East German border guards.

To give her 'credit', she does not hide her anti-immigration convictions by only talking about illegal immigration as many republicans do. She comes right out and supports a halt in legal immigration as well, particularly of those of the 'non-white' variety.

voted so overwhelmingly for Obama. (Maybe Coulter thinks Obama's father could not have gotten the student visa that he used to go to college in Hawaii then graduate school at Harvard before returning to Kenya but I think she's is focusing on the influx of liberal voters.)

If not for the 1965 Immigration Act, immigration levels would have stayed much lower and much whiter which would be good for republicans and bad for Democrats, particularly minority candidates like Obama.

His mother was American, so he would be an American citizen no matter what. Plus, he was born in America. I know she's a nut, but I don't understand why she thinks he wouldn't have been able to run for president.

Lately Pam Geller and her anti-Muslim hate have grabbed a lot of headlines, and Coulter is frantically jumping up and down, waving her arms screaming "Look at me!"

Is she implying that the Mexicans will do the shooting when their citizens start climbing over the wall?
