Ew.
During Joshs brief public career shaming the pervs for Jesus, he was always willing to gladhand a politician who came to him hoping some of that Duggar magic would rub off. Now it seems it may not have technically been magic.

(38,437 posts)There are more important issues than this.
Because Republicans would never bring up stupid shit like Reverend Wright or Bill Ayers.

(101,390 posts)Who, after ignoring the molestation of his own daughters (during his campaign to become a US senator), went on to build a 'family values' image on national TV that ended up with the molester becoming executive director of the Family Research Council PAC? Where they hypocritically accuse LGBT rights of endangering children? And Republican politicians queue up to have their photo taken with the hypocritical molester?
Like, totally dumb, dude.

(101,390 posts)Who happily posed with him for the political purposes they share with him and the father who covered up for him? No, nothing to do with child molestation.
Part of the point is that Josh Duggar had gone into Republican politics too - executive director of the Family Research Council PAC - and they were just as eager to pose with a political reality TV star like him as he was with them.

(10,998 posts)traumatizing events. When the rest of the family protects the incestor and not the victim add another assault to the initial crime.
The duggars are sick sick sick people just like the people who promote them, protect them and encourage them. The disgusting creeps who promote this mysogynistic family and the family themselves deserve public shame and humiliation, not fame and fortune.
Shame is the moral compass. No shame, no compass.

But when one of the elders at Jim Bobs church suggested sending Josh to a legitimate treatment program, Jim Bob demurred, reasoning that Josh would likely be exposed to more serious offenders and that that was not appropriate for the nature of his offense. So instead of sending Josh to an actual treatment program, Jim Bob sent him to Little Rock for four months to help a family friend with some remodeling.
When Josh returned in July 2003, Jim Bob took Josh to speak with a state trooper he knew personally about what had happened. The trooper gave Josh a very stern talk but didnt file a report, reportedly reasoning that nothing needed to be done because Josh had already gone through a treatment program. Except of course that helping a family friend in Little Rock do some remodeling is not a treatment program. (The trooper who spoke with Josh was later convicted of child pornography.)

Jim Bob was, of course, a Republican politician, thankfully losing the Republican primary for the Arkansas US Senate seat while this was going on:
He also ran in the Republican Party of Arkansas primary election for the United States Senate in 2002, but lost to Tim Hutchinson. Duggar sought the Republican nomination to the Arkansas State Senate District 35 seat in 2006, but lost to candidate Bill Pritchard by 200 votes.

(11,175 posts)I'll bet Duggar was pretty good at hiding his true nature. A politician stopping by for a photo op can't reasonably be expected to have investigated the other person enough to uncover crimes that had eluded every professional law enforcement agency.
RockaFowler
(7,429 posts)The news had come out the end of last week and the beginning of this week. He may have hid it, but it was out there in the media and people were saying it wasn't true (mostly his family). It wasn't until In Touch and Gawker had done their investigation that the family had to fess up. These pictures are taken this week in the middle of all of this. So the politicians knew he was a homophobic bigot child molester and they still posed for a picture with him. All that Family Values shit is really looking good right now

(11,175 posts)I'm not voting for any of these clowns anyway, so I'm not going to delve into it, but I looked at the first picture, of him with Heb. Under it is a line reading "6:18 AM - 21 Jan 2015". Doesn't that mean the pic is a few months old?
