...I want the right person. And I think she's also that.

(16,399 posts)I'm not being snarky, seriously, she was. I just get the feeling her political assessments are pretty shallow.

I seriously view this as just jumping on the bandwagon.
She took a lot of grief over her Paul endorsement, and this is her way of attempting to make amends.

Some would prefer "trustworthiness" or "courage of convictions" as more important personality traits.

(7,393 posts)Love Obama but he wasted a lot of time in his naive belief the rethugs would compromise with him.

(29,257 posts)But Obama was also presented as a badass, remember the whole kicking' in the door thing?
For me, a badass is someone who can speak anytime to anyone and remain consistent without having to first calculate the impact on demographics, etc.

It looks as though Kelly is from American Idol, which I've never watched.
She apparently liked Ron Paul there for a while, until his old racist/homophobic views were exposed. To her credit, she dropped him. She apparently voted for Obama and couldn't support Romney because of his views on gay marriage.
Political views[edit]
On December 29, 2011, Clarkson posted on Twitter that she would vote for US Congressman Ron Paul as a 2012 presidential candidate, saying, "I love Ron Paul. I liked him a lot during the last Republican nomination and no one gave him a chance. If he wins the nomination for the Republican Party in 2012 he's got my vote. Too bad he probably won't."[152] After stating her support for Paul, she came under fire on Twitter, due to the controversy over racist and homophobic newsletters that were sent out under Paul's name in the 1980.[153] She later apologized for the tweet, saying she did not intend to offend anyone.[153] In 2012, Clarkson stated she would, again, vote for President Barack Obama. Clarkson stated, "I can't support Romney's policies as I have a lot of gay friends and I don't think it's fair they can't get married." She also cited women's rights issues by saying, "I'm not a hardcore feminist, but we can't be going back to the '50s."[153]

I may have heard about this during the election, but it didn't stick because, again, I'm not really aware of who she is.

(99,716 posts)I wonder if they realize how patronizing they are and how they feed into the narrative that liberals are elitists that think they are better than everybody else and how they know what's best for them.
It's evident when you post polls that 80% of Democrats have favorable opinions of BHO and HRC and their detractors reply that's because they aren't as informed (smart) as those who oppose them.
I don't like labels but it's laughable when folks use liberal and populist as synonyms. Populists believe wisdom and power reside in and derive from the people, liberals believe wisdom and power resides in and derives from them
BTW, I said this thread would become a patronizing party in the first post and I was right.
