But truth be told I would be HONORED and PROUD to pull the lever for either of them when the time comes. O'Malley too.
I love them both. And I am glad Barack Obama is our president. True. GASP!!!
They ALL are better than anything our Enemy could ever nominate and I believe, I hope, that is possibly the one thing people here can agree on.
I am not so sure today, however...

(145,496 posts)Like most HRC supporters, I like Bernie Sanders and agree with many of his positions. I find all comments about Bernie's hair to be wrong and silly. I personally do not care if his hair is messy nor do I care that Bernie is over six feet tall.
This is a primary process and I am supporting the candidate who I feel most comfortable with and who I think can win in November.

(65,616 posts)It really is NOT THAT HARD to be positive about our candidates. Truly, I don't give two fucks about Bernie's hair. Nor do I give even a single fuck about HRC personal emails... sorry guys and gals...just don't give a ffffffffffffff......to the k.
I don't care much for his supporters. I will say that.

(55,981 posts)I hope you aren't equating the Plutocratic Oligarchy with a burning house and recommending we give up.
We have 22% of American children living in poverty and 45% living in low income households. That's the status quo brought to you by the Plutocratic Oligarchs that are tightening the noose every day.
Just how many of our children have to live in poverty before we fight back? We can no longer afford the outrageous military budget, the tax give-aways to Goldman-Sachs and the Wall Street gang. We can no longer afford to "spread democracy via drones in the middle east." We need drastic change. Voting for the status quo will only continue this slide into poverty.

(34,845 posts)Equitable taxation and a robust social safety net would solve the majority of our problems. It wouldn't be that hard except for all the cowards we currently have in Congress.

(1,577 posts)The exact opposite is true. My suggestion was that when the time comes, to coalesce, find common ground and defeat the greatest enemy we can together
But thanks for the lecture and all the big words and putting me in my place

(55,981 posts)Waiting and accepting the status quo while the poverty rate increases. There is no better time to fight than now.
I do apologize for using big words.

But I understand and completely agree, as I feel a majority of us do, that the change we seek and need is not manifesting itself nearly fast enough.
I do not blame a man in an office entirely as some but all that swirls around him and impedes everything. More than anything we need to shatter THAT wall...it would benefit anyone who enters that office next.*

(55,981 posts)as we would hope for a constitutionally controlled democratic republic. Having said that, I believe we have to go down fighting.

(4,835 posts)Any discussion about the Kennedy/Nixon debate will be almost completely about how Nixon was sweating.
I remember the Reagan/Carter debates and I remember seeing that Reagan was taller and sadly more composed.
Now, it is up to the candidate to guide the discussion some, but the press...
The press will decide how many times they show Bernie's disheveled hair and too many Americans are swayed by such simple bullshit things. I'll be voting democrat whether it's Bernie, Hillary, or whoever, but it's a legitimate concern when people express an opinion that the candidate that represents the democratic party does not look as 'desirable'.
I remember when points were taken away from Al Gore because the press claimed that he said he invented the Internet. I didn't think Dubya had a prayer, and they had to steal the election, but it had to be close in order for them to steal it.
Don't underestimate how big a deal the press can make out of something so small and insignificant. Picking a candidate that will win in the general election should take personal appearance into account.
rhett o rick
(55,981 posts)Just kidding. I wouldn't want him any other way. Nixon's problems were more than just the sweat. He was kinda sleezy and it came across and the sweat didn't help.
Blanks
(4,835 posts)That's all the press would talk about then. Remember when Carter changed the part in his hair?
As far as Nixon, he still got elected in '68 despite his sleeziness.

(51,076 posts)they've been trying to con Bernie to say something that would start a war of words with the Hill. He's too smart for that. Bernie campaigns differently, he talks about problems and how to address them where many of our pols some on both sides of the fence will engage in the war of words, some first rattle out of the box. Bernie wins elections by being Bernie and talking too and listening too what people have to say. Basing his decisions on how he sees it not on how the big money donors, who he doesn't have, want him to. Bernie is a good honest man and will make us an awesome President. (7,393 posts)But he did stump Bernie when he asked how he planned to pass free college with republicans. That was kind of amusing.

(55,981 posts)You found it was amusing that Sen Sander's dream of educating American children might have a hard time with the Republicons?
MaggieD
(7,393 posts)There were almost 800 there and it is now down to 75 or so last I heard. So despite the rethugs in Congress Obama has done a decent job in doing everything he can to keep that promise.

(55,981 posts)Blitzer in mocking ("That was kind of amusing" Sen Sanders for suggesting having free college because of Republicon obstructionism. But you give Obama a pass when he promised to close Gitmo numerous times in his campaign yet failed as president, dragging his feet early in his term allowing the Republicons to pass legislation preventing the closing.
Sen Sanders is clearly fighting for the people. He will have a hard fight against Goldman-Sachs and the Wall Street gang. HRC is going to get the benefit of the Goldman-Sachs/ Wall Street big money to the tune of an estimated $2 BILLION. I choose the side of the people.
MaggieD
(7,393 posts)Sanders KNOWS he is blowing smoke up our asses.
Obama has gotten rid of 75% detainees. Do you think 75% of kids are going to get free college?
No. You don't. Unless you're foolish.
rhett o rick
(55,981 posts)and you join with the Republicons mocking him.
Obama failed to live up to his promise, drug his feet and let the Repulicons "stop" him.
Show your source for your claim that he got "rid of 75% detainees." The links I provided showed otherwise.

(7,393 posts)And he's going to tax our retirement accounts to do it.
There is a reason he isn't being taken seriously. And if he wants to be taken seriously he needs to join us in reality land and offer some realistic proposals.
rhett o rick
(55,981 posts)but hits the 1% hard. We must have taxes to pay for our safety nets. Do you want to kill our safety nets? The wealthy have changed the laws to get out of taxes all together and now we need to reverse that. But here you are siding with the billionaires. Listening to their cries about being taxed.
Reality is that we have millions of children going hungry every day and if we don't tax the wealthy their numbers will grow. That's the status quo that you seem to want to protect.
It's easy to side with the billionaires, it's hard to side with those needing food every day.
Sorry but I am done. You are on the wrong side in this class war.
