anything but fear of China - they're all afraid of China. They don't care which worker in the world is destroyed - unions, benefits, etc. Just get China because the West owes her way too much money and they have no intention of repaying it.

China has lots of people, and pretty good higher education.
Consequently China has modestly priced labor, and plenty of technical people...
China also has plenty of money to put into automation/robotics
THey are going to compete...often successfully.
With the largest population of any nation on earth, they also have a huge domestic market to sustain their production during periods of foreign recessions.
A trade deal won't justify non-repayment of debts. Only W.A.R. and the destruction of institutions and persons holding foreign notes (aka US Treasury Notes) could do that. A war with China is overwhelmingly incredibly, suicidally stupid.

(14,255 posts)And the corporations run the game.
Look at it this way - evidently Big Pharma gets to charge high prices on drugs for a much longer time.
We, due to the ACA, are legally required to buy insurance from the insurance companies who will be buying those high-priced drugs, and passing those costs down to us in the form of higher premiums and co-pays. And, of course, Medicare is still barred from negotiating drug prices down.
We lose, Big Pharma wins. And this cannot be changed easily, it is in the TPP. Congress can't do anything about it, ever.
In fact, this takes a lot of stuff out of Congress' hands, for better or worse, of course, and into the hands of the corporations.

We do not owe "her" way too much money. Republicans have been using that fear tactic for two decades now.
