I'm amazed that we have so little understanding of the process of government. The

President is just an avatar or ideas person to set the general tone of the country for the next 4 yrs.

Without support in Congress he may as well be spitting into the wind. Without strong support in the Senate, federal appointments go into the dustbin. No appointments get by unless supported and approved by the Senate majority.

In the House all bills containing money in controlled by the majority.

Just like Bernies bill has absolutely no support to break up the banks and will go nowhere. He can promise and propose all he wants but without support nothing happens.

That's the process.

We know the process. But at least Bernie is introducing his bill into the conversation. djean111 May 2015 #2
I doubt that Bernie will even make it on the ballot in 1/3 of the states. Also CK_John May 2015 #5

What would you suggest? Just sitting on our asses and agreeing with whatever the GOP/Third Way wants, and not even try?
That's the alternative.
And if being President is such a hollow useless job, at least President Bernie would be spitting Progressive ideas into the wind.
In fact, by your reasoning, it does not matter who is President.
And if all the President does is set the tone - I like Bernie's tone. That's the tone I will vote for.

Actually, your OP pretty much says that it does not matter who is president, so why do you even need to single Bernie out?

One way Bernie can keep the issue on the burner is to keep presenting the bill. Silence is too often taken as agreement.

Between the children in adult clothes, teaparty, and the cons in general, someone like Bernie would have little support to do the right thing.

Having said that, I would love to see it happen because he could plant the seed.

Shake it up with a Bernie Sanders campaign. Only then will they even think about listening, especially a crooked gerrymandered and bought system which we live under today.
