I have not commented on the shooting at the Pamela Geller event yet because I have not known what to say, it seemed obvious to me that shooting anyone over an art exhibit is wrong no matter how disgusting that exhibit is but there was something about this story that was just not sitting right with me.
That is when I noticed the elephant in the room.
Pamela Geller is not just pushing anti-Islamic sentiment, she is also pushing violence against Islamic people when she advocates for us to go to the Middle East and slaughter them.
Now think about what happens in the Middle East when people call for death to America, a good number of them get killed and I don't hear too many Americans insisting that those people should have the right to free speech.
When the people of our nation advocate killing people in foreign lands they are often applauded, but when the people of those foreign lands advocate killing us they better be prepared to face a drone strike.
Now to be clear I am not justifying anything that happened in Texas, the violence against Geller's group was wrong and the violence against Islamic people that Geller's group is promoting is also wrong.
We can recognize wrong doing and still see that there has been a great deal of hypocrisy in our nation's response to that wrong doing.

(181 posts)is a sick twisted vile person. You are right she is stirring up the same sentiments as the Jihadis. She doesn't practice free speech she practices hate speech. Faux news needs to stop giving her a platform.

(4,461 posts)... the attack in Texas was a terrorist's low-tech version of a drone strike against someone they perceive to be a threat?

(12,041 posts)What I can say is that our nation reacts very differently to Americans advocating violence against the Middle East than we do to advocacy of violence against Americans. If the US bombed a "Death to America" art exhibit in the Mid East I don't think the media would be talking about free speech.
