(14,498 posts)I LOOOOOVE her !!!
When she parachuted into NYS to run for senate in 2000, her handlers floated the idea that she was partly Jewish.
I'm not kidding.
Turns out , on closer examination, she had a Jewish "step-grandmother"..... whatever that is.
I'm telling' ya.... if I didn't have Ms. Clinton and her various convoluted political machinations around for entertainment value.... I don't know what I would have done these past 20 years.

It seems to me the *gov't* got something to hide.
LOTS, in fact.
But you knew that already.

(4,452 posts)Think about it! This was the man that signed legislation putting the CIA into operation. The CIA has been rogue from the beginning and should be trashes. And the NSA needs someone holding a tight leash around it's neck.
How about considering the fact that about 70% of our so called "intelligence" budget is going to private contractors? Do you think they aren't going to try and profit from the information they gather?

(57,936 posts)OK. Confession. I know a young woman who is the gentlest, kindest most wonderful human being. She chose a profession in which she devotes her life to helping others. You couldn't wish for a more wonderful person.
But she loves chemistry, and when the internet was pretty new and she was in school, she looked up the Anarchists Cookbook. I don't know what is in that book, but she was curious.
I would hate to have her life ruined because of her love of chemistry and where it lead her. The fact is that with the NSA's system the government has a record even though it probably doesn't check that record frequently, of every little goofball, silly, or rebellious thing that the kids now growing up do on the internet or the phone or in some electronic way. That is a horrible fact.
And that is true of all of us.
But one consolation for those who are married and fear their spouses might "cheat." The NSA is tracking all the phone calls. If your spouse or significant is cheating on you, at least someone knows for sure.
Soi, guys and gals, whether you like it or not, whether they are interested in it or not, the NSA is keeping tabs on your love life, on your internet sex life, on your online shopping habits and they know all, all, all your little secrets.
So you better watch out, you better not pout, cause the NSA might tell Santa (or your husband or wife). Be careful.
But at least the NSA spying on us might save some marriages. So I guess that's a good thing.

(1,265 posts)You know, do it with the family, make a fun project out of it, bury it in the backyard garden, have fun fantasizing about who would dig it up and when. So I went onto an industrial supply site and shopped around for some short lengths of pre-threaded stainless steel pipe and fittings.
And now, I'm probably on record for trying to build a pipe bomb.

(57,936 posts)to speed my composting. After I bought it, I wondered whether my purchase put me on some list somewhere. I was a terrible chemistry student. I could be buying a fully functioning bomb and not even know it if I bought the Latin name for it.
I do not envy the police their jobs. But the surveillance is just ridiculous. It is totally against the principles our country was founded on.
