The black man courting crowds of white conservatives doesnt seem like the same guy that H. Westley Phillips once idolized. Phillips still relishes the day he heard Ben Carson inspire minority students at Yale University with his story of persistence. He can still feel the nervous anticipation he had while waiting in line to shake Carsons hand.
...
In the ensuing months and years, Carsons attacks grew sharper deriding Obamas signature health-care law as the worst thing to have happened in this nation since slavery and, in the pages of GQ, likening Obama to a psychopath. Carsons 2014 book, One Nation, assails a decline of moral values in America and its government.
As Carson prepares to announce his candidacy for president on Monday in his home town of Detroit, his political base is now whiter and more rural.

About a Woman's right to choose:
There comes a time when people with values simply have to stand up. Think about Nazi Germany. Most of those people did not believe in what Hitler was doing. But did they speak up? Did they stand up for what they believe in? They did not, and you saw what happened.
Victim blaming:
Lets not all jump on the bandwagon of demonizing this guy. He obviously has some real problems. And his wife obviously knows that because she subsequently married him. So they both need some help

(57,349 posts)Why the fuck would I be civil about this insane goat fucker????
This guy is absolutely heinous. I refuse to be civil to him or about him. He has nothing of value to be civil about and I think it says a lot more about the people that think we should just "disagree" with him than it does about those of us that call him a piece of shit.
I don't give a rat's ass if he was a neurosurgeon. I don't give a flying fuck if they did make a "lovely movie" about him that will make us all feel positive about him and shed a tear.
He is a goat fucker, an waste of a human being who would says the worst stuff about LBGT and women.
Fuck that... I will not be civil about him.

(37,573 posts)the comment about "loveable" was about the MOVIE.
Basically it just says that - the movie portrays him as loveable, heroic, etc.
The OP was just "five facts about Ben Carson" - presumably just informational, and NOT "why I support Carson for President".
Granted in the war zone, drinking the haterade, some people cannot seem to tell the difference.

(68,918 posts)Yes, words were twisted to fit a narrative here (I know, you're shocked).
Nowhere does the poster claim he is a "hero." The poster responded with a first reaction after seeing a movie. This does not a supporter make.
I happen to think Carson is being used by the GOP and he's a clueless idiot in case someone is tempted to twist this response somewhere down the line.

(48,181 posts)Ben Carson is out and around bashing Obama and losing whatever support he had in the black community as he gears up for a run for president. He was in fact held up for a long time as a hero, a role model for disadvantaged african american youth. He is now becoming a pariah because of his increasingly outspoken rightwing nuttery.
A headline is bullshit if it cannot be substantiated by the facts presented in the article. This is not the case for this headline.
Capt. Obvious
(9,002 posts)that that poster leaped into defend Obama mode not realizing the headline was referring to Carson.

(92,366 posts)contradict that African Americans do not support Obama
In 2011 WP spewed the same garbage, taken right from the pages of Breitbart, of corse it wasn't Carson at the time, they blamed it on someone else
I wonder how many African Americans embrace his view that the ACA "is the worst thing since slavery"?
I suspect very little, and the last elections counterdict Mr Carson's influence among African Americans
Capt. Obvious

(92,366 posts)why I thought it was saying that Carson was causing African American support to diminish from Obama, when it was saying Carson had been on a pedestal, and had lost it.

Suffice it to say arguing over the merits or lack off from a movie, and how he was portrayed in the movie is far from love.
