following the all -mainly by RW spreaded but not all-allegations re Clinton Foundation donations?
I think yes if another thing comes to light .

(5,111 posts)She's not even a month in and I don't think it's going that well. There is a loooong way to go and she has lots of baggage. They have had plenty of time to prepare. I'm sure there will be lots of dirt to come.

Several people have been elected inspite of themselves.

(34,589 posts)For all kinds of reasons. She's built the Maginot Line of campaigns.
But as we saw after she was essentially eliminated for the 2008 nomination but stayed in the race anyway just to cause trouble for Obama, she won't let reality influence her campaign decisions.

(94,792 posts)Of course not. Do you - seriously - think the average voter worried about job security, income, retirement, health care costs, education, etc. is paying a minute's attention to this story?

(14,040 posts)are people who aren't going to support her anyway. People are not as hooked in to politics as most people on DU, so when looking through the DU lens, everything is magnified.

(24,692 posts)is usually the reason that I don't support them. I figure that a campaign spent defending such policies should make an implosion likely.
Hillary does not show up on my list of such candidates though I disagree with her on some issues and prefer Bernie.

(22,917 posts)Americans have a pretty real grip on who Hillary is, real or fictitious baggage and all. Whatever "sins" average Americans might find her guilty of are already priced in, details about the latest so called scandal might swirl around and change, but the big picture of who she is remains the same. Hillary is a smart tough political figure who consistently exhibits more competence than the average American political leader, who repeatedly expresses values and priorities more in keeping with a majority of Americans than those professed by her Republican opponents. She will not implode over allegations of money potentially buying access to or influence with her. Americans understand that money runs rampant in America - it's a given. They also know that the Republican party is built on a foundation of money buying influence.

(2,992 posts)It happens. Look at John Edwards in 2008. He was quite popular then imploded after his extra marrital affair was revealed. And conflict of interest is a far more important questionnable thing than "srx scandals".

(113,109 posts)the same way they sought to legitimize GOP witch hunts like Whitewater and Benghazi is utter horseshit - and I say that as a well-established critic of the Clintons.
Being a REAL critic of the Clintons here at DU should require a sense of discernment - carrying GOP/RW lie machines' pails of horseshit for them and actually reaching into the pail to grab and toss that horseshit around verbatim will never be something to just excuse away as legitimate debate.

You really ought to use Google and check for updates on the smears you're repeating. When even shithole wingnut scuzzball rightwing websites like NEWSMAX (the CEO of NEWSMAX, in fact) say that the story has no legs, you can be sure that the GOP isn't going to use any of the material (cough pack of lies cough) in that book.
That dog couldn't hunt before the book was even released. You're dragging a dead animal in the DU house. You should consider dropping this line of "inquiry" lest people begin to suspect your motives.

(2,992 posts)"Either You Are With Us, Or You Are With RWers" Cant wait for you stating Bernie is a RW tool to sonce he stated Clinton Money issue as much of a problem as Koch money worshippers.
Hillary Clinton has a conflict of interest problem. Deal with it. She broke the ethics agreement qhe sealed with Obama. That is facts. No fiction.
The Clinton Foundation was fueld with foreign money WHILE she was serving at State. Fact. No fiction.

Like I said, keep on keeping on--by your words we will know you. You're already showing us your .... hand ... with your comments to me.
Nothing wrong with differing on actual ISSUES--but when you recycle failed smears, some of that shit IS going to wind up on you, and you've only YOURSELF to blame.
So ... get over yourself-- and your "ha ha."

MADem
(135,425 posts)bother. You're spinning, now. It's embarrassing and cringeworthy to see on this website.
When Clinton's ENEMIES are holding their noses and saying "Geez, that book is utter shit--I'm not going to disgrace myself by giving it any credit or play" you might consider taking their hint.
You keep digging that hole, and it's not helping your argument or your credibility.

(8,217 posts)Only thing I could say is, that beyond the hallowed halls of DU and wherever the opposites shrithe, there are the regulars, who only tell me that the only person they know is Hillary and that she will probably win.
Yes, I have quite a few people I know who avoid and don't like thinking about politics.
They will not be paying much attention till probably next year.
There are many things that could happen between now and then. Stating that, she is the current brand that people beyond here would probably flock to.
This is by no means an endorsement of HRC, I would support Sanders, O'Malley and others before her, but as I mention time and again... whomever wins the Democratic primary is the one I will vote for in the General Election.
I doubt that she would implode, as many of the things being talked about could easily be explained as the cost of doing business.

(23,975 posts)the Clintons have put up with plenty of RW manure over the years, i think they've found a way to use it as fertilizer.
Benghazi isn't going to sink her.
her private email server isn't going to sink her.
funky accounting practices aren't going to sink her.
astroturfy "listening tours" aren't going to sink her.
she'd have to do something really nasty to torpedo her campaign. right now, i can't think of what that would be, but it would have to be something ... special.

(12,504 posts)What HRC's foundation does or doesn't do, isn't as important a what HRC can do for women's rights, abortion rights, minimum wage increases, safeguarding and growing HCA, protecting social security from privitization etc etc. She is still solid with those important issues.

(1,835 posts)Hillary is an excellent politician. She's not exactly running the GBI or Foundation. These are Bill and Chelsea's toys. The accusations surrounding the donations are pretty baseless accusations as far as I can see; no quid pro quo, no personal benefit to her.

(33,688 posts)she could implode. She has a closet that is bursting with skeletons and policies and voluntary associations (war criminal Kissinger, Dimon, Blankfein) that are, shall we say, quite unsavory.
