Hillary Clinton's Benghazi emails contain few revelations: sources

http://www.reuters.com/article/2015/04/28/us-usa-clinton-emails-idUSKBN0NJ2OX20150428

(Reuters) - A cache of Hillary Clinton emails expected to be made public soon contains no support for Republican accusations that Clinton was involved in efforts to downplay the role of Islamic militants in the deadly 2012 attacks on U.S. installations in Benghazi, Libya, people familiar with the emails said.

Two people familiar with the material said this week that the 300 emails do not demonstrate that Clinton, who was secretary of state at the time of the attacks, was personally involved in decisions that resulted in weak security at the Benghazi outposts.

The State Department is expected to make public this week or next Clinton emails about Benghazi that it turned over in February to a Republican-led panel investigating the Sept. 11, 2012, attacks at the U.S. diplomatic mission and a nearby CIA base. U.S. Ambassador to Libya Christopher Stevens and three other Americans were killed in the attacks.

---snip---

Some showed Clinton exchanging correspondence with other State Department officials regarding security for a Libyan election that took place in June 2012. But there was no evidence Clinton held detailed discussions about security at U.S. installations in Benghazi in the months before the attacks, the sources said.

With that ridiculous comb upped hair, I think he should be wearing one those caps from the forties with the bottle caps like Jughead wore in the Archie comic books! Its so outdated. Is he trying to look taller? If I found myself being cross examined by Gowdy in trial, would find it difficult to not look at him and burst out laughing.

My own gut feeling is there was a lot of pay to play however, and that's why she set up all of her mails through a personal server rather than doing the ethical thing to begin with, having a .gov account for work-related emails.

But that's just me.

It was shady, only using a personal private email server. But apparently it was also very smart.

in Benghazi only about Hillary Clinton when any UNBIASED READ of all the facts and sworn testimony and documents makes it apparent that Benghazi was a covert CIA operation under the direction of Gen. Petraeus - and EVERYONE o the ground there knew it at the time, including those killed.

GOP doesn't want public and the media focusing on that, do they? Then GOP congress and senate intel committee members would have to admit they knew it at the time of the attacks, and that all the BS accusations made against WH and State Dept were all political strategy to gin up outrage from the corpmedia and their dumbed down voter base who need constant fuels added to their arsenal of firebombs lobbed at the WH.

Corpmedia doesn't mind perpetuating these lies - what is YOUR reason?

Is every government employee expected to turn over their personal pc and emails because there just might be a conspiracy related email in their personal email? How do we know who in the government uses their personal email accounts to send emails they don't want shared with the public, work related or not. Why is she held to a different standard?

The State Department got 55000 PAGES of PRINTED OUT EMAILS. The above is not just what the Republicans will say, but close to the truth and the problem. The only thing mildly wrong is that HRC did not personally go through the emails.

This is WHY the private (now wiped) server is a self inflicted wound. The fact is that two years AFTER she left office, she alone controlled her email. It could be that she did turn every email, even tangentially related to her job over to state -- or there could have been possible deletion that in retrospect make what she wrote look less than prescient.

She also left the State Department a huge mess. First, every FOIA that any of her emails should have been subject to now have to be amended. It leaves them accused of stonewalling - even though they tried to comply. Then, she cavalierly - to get out of her mess - called for ALL of the emails to be made public. This requires State Department lawyers to go through all of them redacting personal information or anything that should not be public. A major job. Also because she archived nothing, the State Department needs to find a way to take 55,000 printed out pages of emails and organize them to allow them to sort out any that are needed for FOIA requests.

In the near future, I would not be surprised if she faults the State Department for taking too long.

Wed Apr 29, 2015, 01:44 PM

that State Dept is where all the answers are to be found, when anyone in possession of above room temperature IQ could have read all the sworn testimony and documents and realized early on that Benghazi was a covert CIA operation under the direction of Gen. Petraeus who had dozens of his agents and operatives on the ground there before, during, and after the attack.

GOP intel committee senators and congress critters knew it at the time the tracks happened, but, also knew the expected reticence from the administration on ANY CIA op would give them the opportunity to make a political mountain out of it and shape the narrative against WH and State.

You want to continue their game, go ahead, but, anyone with comprehension skills AND an ounce of integrity would use their energy to push forward the truth about Benghazi and shine a light on the tactics that were used by GOP strategists to take advantage of all those dumbed down GOP voters and to misdirect blame in the minds of the casual absorbers of headline news.

The GOP should welcome Hillary. If she wins they can continue business as usual. They can swap Obama hate for Hillary hate and go their merry way in Congress: doing nothing, proposing nothing, contributing nothing and feeding off the taxpayers (all the while cashing in on the Kochs and Adelsons of the world).

These idiots keep trying to find something that is simply not there. SOS are not personally in charge of embassy security. That task is the purview of the Under Secretary of Management, who is responsible for several bureaus, including the Bureau of Diplomatic Security.

"The Bureau of Diplomatic Security (DS) is the security and law enforcement arm of the U.S. Department of State. DS is a world leader in international investigations, threat analysis, cyber security, counterterrorism, security technology, and protection of people, property, and information. DS is responsible for providing a safe and secure environment for the conduct of U.S. foreign policy. In the U.S., DS personnel protect the Secretary of State and high-ranking foreign dignitaries and officials visiting the U.S., investigate passport and visa fraud, and conduct personnel security investigations. DS plays a vital role in protecting U.S. embassies and personnel overseas, securing critical information systems, investigating passport and visa fraud, and fighting the war on terror."
