I think I am and you are, and a whole hell of a lot of Americans are, but the country as a whole, not better. In America, from the beginning, it's been ok, even encouraged, to kill black Americans and American Indians and any other non conforming human being that somehow offended the power of the day.

Yes, there's been progress. No more lynching parties in the town square for Sunday afternoon entertainment. Armies and state police no longer ride into towns and villages killing at will. Hell, even some white folks were slaughtered if they had the nerve to join a union and/or strike for the right to be treated like a human being. Now, corporations have nearly complete control, so very few pesky unions. Police kill citizens at will, rarely any consequences, and the corporate media remains silent. Now, with every citizen walking around with a camera, it's kind of difficult to ignore, but, give em credit, they're sure as hell trying.

Who needs lynch mobs anymore? Haters can stay at home and have the police do it them.

No, America is not better than this.

It is generally frowned upon to discuss anything political in the corporate workplace, but this crosses the threshold where it feels incumbent on people to raise awareness and call attention to it. So I've been discussing it often, with many people -- colleagues, suppliers, people in the community. Business people, salesmen, engineers.
EVERYONE is outraged and upset about it -- working class, middle class, upper class. Even rightwimgers. Everyone. My son's 14 year old friend brought it up in the car today.
I'm making it a point to try to remember the victim's names and specifics, and discuss it.

People tend to 100% believe the police. You are raised to trust them.

I see no states passing laws that try to stop police abuse.

Hell, Texas is trying to make it illegal to tape a cop closer than 30 feet.

No one cares about violence towards black people. They don't care about police violence towards blacks or black on black violence. It's "everyday news" now for black people to be killed every day and no one bats an eye.

Having our tax dollars support this sick violent malignant system? Yup, sick of it.

Don't know if I'm allowed to say this, but I'm also pretty sick of watching President Obama and our Federal government stand around and allow this madness to continue.

We need a Marshall Plan to overhaul the entire police system into the image of the Scandinavian system. Swedish cops for Americans. I'm sick of Americans being treated like disposable drinking cups.

The militarization of local police departments, the "stand your ground" laws, the massive arrests per the so-called "drug war", the over the top police violence against protestors and average innocent citizens (and dogs), are manifestations of slide ever farther into a fascist state. The Plutocratic Oligarchy leaders are conspiring and acting thru their government puppets to tightening the noose.

We may not be in a total police stated yet, but we sure as hell are headed that way and the current administration isn't looking to put the breaks on.

And yes this is a CT and may be subject to attack by those that are living in denial. Dog bless them.
