My wife and I changed the channel away from the news. The focus of significant amounts of air time was entirely on the handful of American tourists and only the most cursory mention of a poor country faced with devastating damage.

It's all about us.

the Daily Mail did the same thing. It is really sickening that they consider the thousands who lost their lives as less than.

There's an entire country of people who've been killed, injured, and/or rendered homeless because of the quake, including the city of Kathmandu.

The tourists trying to climb Everest came there knowing they would face risks. Should have been prepared.

I get your point - climbing Everest is for risk-takers.

Let them hire private helicopters since most of them hate big government anyway. Let the governments in the region help the locals who are desperate for the most basic needs right now.
