Pataki for President: This time he's SERIOUS!

The Wall Street Journal:

ROCHESTER, N.H.—Halfway into his introductory remarks before a small group of local Republicans here, former New York Gov. George Pataki acknowledged the elephant in the room.

“It seems like every four years…you have the Olympics, you have World Cup and Pataki shows up in New Hampshire thinking about running for president,” Mr. Pataki said before 30 people gathered at the Pink Cadillac Diner here in Strafford County last week. “But I have to tell you it’s a different time.”

Mr. Pataki says he’s serious this time, and has in fact shown signs that this time his flirtation with a presidential run is real.

A super PAC, “We the People, Not Washington,” was formed in January to support a potential bid by Mr. Pataki, and a paid ad is now running on local television in New Hampshire. During the 30-second spot, the Republican criticizes his own party for focusing on social issues, instead of the economy and terrorism.
