Not because he's 74 but because he's been in the Senate for over half his life. Yes, it's been a distinguished career overall, and yeah, he has a shitload of seniority- as in the most senior senator, but 40+ years is enough. I'm not for term limits; he has every right to run, but it's time for someone new and younger. There is no chance that a republican will win a senate seat- there isn't even a viable republican to run.
We have a deep liberal/Progressive bench here. I'm hoping this guy will challenge him:

(114,904 posts)also, I don't know where he stands on the TPA. I fear he'll vote for it and then vote against the TPP, but I think if the TPA passes, the TPP will be inevitable.

But I understand where you are coming from.
Now Kesha Ram I'd be all for... Except she has a long way to go.

(114,904 posts)I don't know why his seniority is important to the party, particularly with dems in the minority (and no, I don't see them taking back the majority, alas, in 2016; particularly now that Reid is resigning)
