A video purportedly made by Islamic State and posted on social media sites on Sunday appeared to show militants shooting and beheading about 30 Ethiopian Christians in Libya.
Reuters was unable to verify the authenticity of the video, but the killings resemble past violence carried out by Islamic State, an ultra-hardline group that has expanded its reach from strongholds in Iraq and Syria to conflict-ridden Libya.
The video, in which militants call Christians "crusaders" who are out to kill Muslims, showed about 15 men being beheaded on a beach and another group of the same size, in an area of shrubland, being shot in the head.
Both groups of men are referred to in a subtitle as "worshippers of the cross belonging to the hostile Ethiopian church"

Christians are really suffering the world over at the hands of these psychopaths.

(9,823 posts)Beheadings on a foreign shore may be more horrific, but they're no more real than the toxic world of disaster capitalism. You're going to see only one of those stories on the teevee, however.

It's as if I read a story about a woman confronted by a home invader smoking a cigarette and I'm being chastised for not taking a firmer stance against second-hand smoke.

This just goes to show that the Iraq war was a colossal mistake, by far the biggest mistake of the 21st century so far.

(19,497 posts)Not that going into Libya helped -- which is where this incident originated. But apparently some needless, fraudulent wars are worse than others and some victims aren't as important.
Whatever, man. If you want to trivialize the deaths of real people to score cheap political points for a different set of politicians who are just as self-serving and manipulative knock yourself out. The high moral dudgeon act doesn't phase me.
People were murdered. Wave your pom-poms.

We screw up everything we touch in the ME, we don't have any idea what we are doing and every time we get involved we make things worse, usually much worse.
