(21,893 posts)It's such a good series.
You can watch full episodes on the PBS website, here: (the holiday episode is here too in case you missed that -- a lot of people didn't know it was on and missed it.

(34,076 posts)Have a niece who dearly wanted to be a midwife here in the States. Graduate if 4 year nursing education.
No good place for her, after her certification, given how the medical system here has sidelined the profession. Now she is in charge of OB Nursing at a university Medical Center. Lucky Moms, but their care is so end-stage clinical by the time my niece meets them and then guides them through lactation issues after birth.

(111,277 posts)I thought when Jenny Lee packed it in and went off to do hospice nursing that would be it since so much was centered around her.

(10,952 posts)of an ensemble show with the character of Jenny Lee gone. Trixie gets more story line but there seems to be a better balance with the other characters. It looks like there will be a 5th season too.

(111,277 posts)and I've gotten to the gin swigging Tartar who runs the unwed mothers' home. Chummy's on the way to crack down but I'll watch tonight's PBS episode first.
The Xmas special will be pulled in 2 days, so if you haven't seen it, go soon.

(10,952 posts)Another great show if you have not seen it is The Land Girls. Apparently when the men went off to war in WWII, women signed up to work on farms to keep them operating. I really enjoyed that show.

(1,826 posts)Based on the memoirs of Jenny Worth, the characters and story-lines are interesting with a good mix of drama, and humor. Plus its on PBS!

(10,044 posts)I have Selfridge on right now...not as good as The Midwife.
Went to PBS out of desperation and was lucky to have found it. Tonight CNN has Weed on for hours and hours and if you live in Michigan, where it's not legal, and you have to drive 100 miles north or so for a prescription, you get pissed off from all the talk about how good it is for you. If you don't live where it's legal, you could be in jail if they find you with it...
Hurray for PBS.

(84,711 posts)Once I got into it ....thought it was a great watch. First part of Season 1, Selfridge comes off as a philandering,"AH." But, as the story goes on there's a good focus workers rights, class structure and how Selfridge (despite his flaws) does take care of his staff through WWI and respects the rights of the Suffragettes. Very female friendly watch. The acting was all top notch, imho. Wonderful costumes and atmosphere of that time.
