The 'H' is in the Latin (ie West European) script, which is read from the left to the right. It's what you're reading right now.

The meme of pointing right to mean 'forward' has moved beyond the dominant written languages of the world into the purely symbolic - look at a control for a DVD, YouTube or similar and the 'play' button points to the right, as does the 'fast forward' button.

Speaking of webs, I usually trap spiders with a wine glass and a piece of cardboard. A trace of wine at the bottom helps to calm them. I can attest to that. When they come to, they're safely outside on a forsythia bush. Hopefully, the spiders around here will return the favor.

What is it about Hillary's platform that you support?

Are you simply following the crowd and supporting her because she puts a D after her name or is there something specific that she has promised to support and do during her hoped for presidency that causes you to support her?

Anyway, what does she stand for when all is said and done?

I hope Skinner will clarify. He did do a "Winky" ....but, I'm not savvy enough to figure which way he was going on that. He did say "My Avatar" so...I took it that he designed it. But, what was with the "Winky?"

He's a supporter of Hillary Clinton for President. He is in no way saying that you must support HC or leave the website, which was the question asked by the person I responded to. I don't understand what is so baffling about his post.

She stands for supporting the working and middle-class of this country.
She stands for equal rights for all.
She stands for choice.
She stands for the right to health care.
She stands for millionaires and billionaires paying their fair share in taxes.
She stands for protecting society from gun nuts.
She stands for Social Security.
She stands for immigrants.

She stands for everything Democrats, and liberals, believe in.

That's why Elizabeth Warren thinks she is "terrific."
That's why other progressives like Howard Dean and Al Franken support her.

It's why I support her.

For more H1-B visas? For unaffordable college costs? And unaffordable pre-school tuition? What does she stand for that hasn't already been won?
Does she stand for a public option or single payer? Does she stand for better reforms in our financial sector? Does she stand for collecting taxes on profits earned by the sale of products made abroad in the US?

Of the issues of our time, what does she stand for?

The issues you addressed are issues of the past for the most part. A few of them are still in debate, but most have been decided. Not once and for all, perhaps, but decided. Where does she stand on today's issues?

155. How does she
Mon Apr 13, 2015, 10:04 AM
Apr 2015

the list is nice, but there are no details provided especially on ones that I do think require specifics
1. How does she stand for working and middle class families? What has she done to prove this. - What did she do while on the board of Walmart, as US Senator, as prominent figure in the public eye. What specifics has she provided?

2. What is her definition of fair share?
- Nixon era taxes, Eisenhower era, what is fair share?

3. How does she plan on protecting us from gun nuts?
- Which laws does she plan on enacting? Is she going to reintroduce the laws her husband signed. For some baffling reason opposition to gun control laws has grown since the spate of shootings.
Honestly, that baffles me. Unless people are afraid they need to be armed in the event there is a shoot-out at the OK Movie Theater. I find i t odd.

4. How does she stand for immigrants?
- Does she support the expansion of H1B Visas

5. How does she support social security?
-What are her proposals for making it more solvent? Or is she just opposed to cutting it?

Does she support
Expanding US presence in the Middle East
(and no I did not forgive Kerry for voting for the invasion of Iraq either. It's why I didn't vote for him in the primaries. Nor did I vote for him in the general election. But that's kind of a non-issue. Illinois voter and he was gonna win Illinois. So, it was easy to claim the so-called high road)

Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act of 1996, signed by her husband. The act which is partially responsible for the poor and unemployed getting access to benefits

the repeal of the Banking Act of 1933 aka Glass-Steagall signed by her husband

private charter schools

As to Warren, Dean and Franken... what do you expect them to say?

I am still waiting for Franken to do something about the slave labor conditions in Saipan that he found so deplorable in his book 'The Truth'. I have inquired and never gotten a straight answer from his office.
It would have been nice if Senator Franken had brought that up in 2009.

Howard Dean seems to be a supporter of Michelle Rhee. He got in a twit war with people over the issue of charter schools.
(i don't twitter cuz i think it's silly and ridiculous)

I'm going to wait and see who all throws their hat in the ring and decide which one best fits the qualities I want to see in a president. If it's Clinton, so be it. If it's O' Malley cool. We'll see.

Does the logo for Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign look a bit too familiar?

One response was a tweet from media organization WikiLeaks, accusing Clinton's campaign of swiping their insignia. "Hillary Clinton has stolen our innovative WikiLeaks twitter logo design," reads a post from the organization's official Twitter page.

The tweet offered a side-by-side comparison of the logos. WikiLeaks' artwork features an hourglass with a dripping earth, along with a red arrow, while Clinton's shows a red arrow used to form a large "H."

any day. Included in that track record is the only sustained effort in US history to implement single payer healthcare. She's also been committed to Democratic policies since she was young, and has worked hard for women's rights around the world. That is of course all the more reason for reactionaries to oppose her.

It's interesting to see all of the interpretations of it from those who oppose her candidacy. Primary season is going to be very interesting, it seems.

Lately, I've heard this joke running through the back of my head - whenever I hear or see somebody waffling around about how they can't vote for Hillary, won't vote for Hillary, they want that other person over there who seems perfect but she doesn't want to run, or he wants to run but doesn't have the big push or machinery behind him.

The joke (and you've undoubtedly heard it) is about the guy stranded on his rooftop while the floodwaters are rising, rather ominously. He prays to God. "PLEASE RESCUE ME, OH LORD! DELIVER ME FROM THE FLOODWATERS!"
And a boat comes by - "hey dude! Get on! Let's get you to safety!"
Man on roof: "Oh NO! The LORD will save me!" "SAVE ME DEAR GOD!"
And another boat comes by, fire department. "HEY! YOU on the roof! HERE! Get onboard! HURRY!!!"
Man on roof: "NO! My LORD is going to save me! I trust in GOD!" PLEASE DEAR GOD! SAVE ME!!!"
And soon there's a police chopper hovering overhead. They holler down with their megaphone: "SIR! HEY! We're lowering a ladder! Grab a hold! We'll airlift you outta there!"
Man on roof: "Oh NO! Thanks but NO! My GOD will save me! GOD WILL SAVE ME! I BELIEVE!!!!" "DEAR LORD! SAVE ME!"
And the floodwaters rise. And he's swept off the roof and drowns.
Man gets to the Pearly Gates. Can't believe where he wound up. What the heck happened? "Dear God, why didn't you come? Why weren't you there? I called upon you repeatedly and believed! Why didn't you come save me?"
The Lord: "Hey, what are you talking about??? For Heaven's sake, I sent two boats and a helicopter!"

calimary's moral-of-the-story: Hey, here's a shot at two boats and a helicopter. Grab a hold and get off the roof before the GOP floodwaters drown you! HERE'S your rescue, whether you recognize it or not. It's not The Lord. It's not the perfect rescue you prayed for. But it's a way out of danger, forcryingoutloud. We should grab WHAT'S THERE. We need to dance with WHAT'S THERE. If we wait around for the perfect, for the perfect rescue, the perfect dancing partner, the perfect ANYTHING (or rather - WHAT WE THINK is the perfect fill-in-the-blank-here), that will leave the way open for the bad guys to sweep into the White House again.

I guarantee - those who waited or held out will NOT like the results they get, if THAT scenario happens. GUARANTEED. ABSOLUTELY ROCK-SOLID CAST-IN-BRONZE-WITH-CONCRETE-FOOTINGS GUARANTEED.

And then the guy drowns.
