For, unfortunely, the vast majority of people, no matters how a candidate can be most sincere on his/her ideals, the most important is the Popularity/Charisma factors.

in nowadays Image and Appearences dictatorship, persons like, say, John Kerry, Élizabeth Warren or Bernie Sanders have only few chance on mass "love " context?
Why? Because as really liberal as they might be, as good characrers as they might also, they have so called no- (mainstream wanted ) charisma.
The only success exception is Obama. He is a real lefty... but more important he is at easr with crowds. Thats why it worked . And a major plus... he is aldo mainstream wanted beautifull.

That tells a lot about current state of politics.

Now to win, no matter your true character as a human beeing or your real ideal. Since you are "charismatic" , and if yoy add to that a good name recognition, well you will win.... you almost dont have to fight as hard as others.

Bu this doesn't just happen in the US. Recently in Israel the criticism of Herzog was that he wasn't prime ministerial enough.

Part of it is that you have to look the part. That's why a Kucinich, Ron Paul, Sanders, etc can't win. I think Warren could win. She's like Obama in some ways. Charismatic, comfortable with crowds, knowledgable about the issues, etc. But she doesn't have the big ego and so she doesn't try.

As for you general view, politics has ALWAYS been about appearances and now all is being driven by money......the extreme fringe CAN NOT be elected....idealist can cost elections as we saw in 2000 when nader supporters gave America 8 yrs of Bush....

some people may not like hillary, but she is a winner that will beat any gop candidate while people like warren, sanders and who ever else has no chance to win


my hope is for a hillary-warren ticket...al female ticket that covers the spectrum for democrats, liberals, and progressives.....we have to save our money for fight for congress, to retake it from conservatives and rid our country of their influence at the national level once and for all
