Over the last six weeks, it was impossible to turn on the TV and not be besieged by political spots in Chicagos mayors race.
But another component of Mayor Rahm Emanuels fiercely fought re-election campaign appeared elsewhere.
Digital media boosting Emanuel showed up on smartphones, tablets and in online video ads. It specifically targeted digital devices in 38 of the citys 50 wards.
It targeted younger voters and didnt really bother with Hispanic wards, guessing those would go for Jesus Chuy Garcia anyway.
None of that is very surprising except when you find out this: Republicans paid for it.

I have issues with a lot of Dems, but Rahm is the one so-called Dem that I think is the absolute worst...

(23,550 posts)It's my city. Democrat has a different meaning in Chicago. Anyway, in the mayoral race here it doesn't go by political party. No one runs as democrat or republican when they run for mayor.
