On far too many days, I find myself screaming into the wind about something that outrages me. And 99% of the time, its some rancid, heaping pile of propaganda that the Republicans are feeding their base, and trying to get everyone else to believe.
Whether its Fox news, or some elected Republican prick, it never ends. Justifications for white cops shooting black men, Benghazi, "Bomb Iran," the foreign-born Obama, some no-abortion-for-you soup nazi, or needing six types of IDs to vote. -- Name it and some GOP piece of crap is out there advocating it and trying to sell it.
Its really hard to not hate them. We all know that hatred is a negative emotion that does as much damage to the hater as it does to the targets of those hatreds.
But I find that some days, its really, really hard to pull myself out of a hate funk. I mean really hard.
End of rant.
Sigh.

Some days, esp. when you read something like a parent harming a child, it takes an act of will not to hate.

(5,815 posts)The Internet stresses people out and it's easy to start losing perspective since the pattern online is to be fed a constant stream of Outrage of the Day.
I just spent a week watching people meltdown over a friggin pizzeria. And I say that as a gay man. Everyone involved looked like a total lunatic.
Find something offline that will bring you peace. Volunteer somewhere, if only for a half hour. Make a change for yourself or the world for the better that you can see every single day.
You have to remind yourself of the good, or you will be plagued and inundated by the bad.
And there is a lot of good in this world. If you are feeling overwhelmed, go find some. If only for a little while everyday.

(15,046 posts)Just living on this planet and in this country, it's hard to avoid that "constant stream of Outrage of the day."
You hear it around you. You hear/see it on the TV. It's always online, there's "the crazy old wingnut uncle," and, worst of all, people who should know better mouthing some Republican talking point that they picked up somewhere.
I try to not dwell on any of it and for the most part, I am constantly looking for good news from our dear Dem Party. Unfortunately, that's all too rare.
Nonetheless, I manage to tune out most of it most of the time. It's a self-health prerequisite to do so. But some days, it's just overwhelming. I think that video of that murdering, robocop shooting that poor running man in the back was just overwhelming. Especially when we know that that's a daily, or at least weekly event in this country, but not caught on someone's smart phone.

(480 posts)It is natural to hate that which threatens what you love. So ending hate (unqualified) is a silly notion.
