All these "bad" guys confront guys with guns. I guess he thought it work for Zimmerman, why not him, minus the concrete attack.

No, the black colleague is present when he drops the taser near the body:

The other cop is standing right there.

The colleague arrives at the 1:10 mark in this video, AS Slager is retrieving the taser.



Whomever wrote "what the video shows" in the OP, must not have actually watched the video.
