Starving dog that lived on rocks finds a new home

An emaciated Weimaraner named Alex who survived by eating twigs and rocks and was rescued in October has made a remarkable recovery. Even better, he has been officially adopted by his foster mom!

“When I first met him, he was really thin that drew me to him and his eyes were so haunting and piercing,” Diane Lundeen explained to WVUE.

Alex was found wandering the streets in New Orleans back in October.

An X-ray revealed that the poor boy’s stomach was loaded with rocks and twigs. His stomach flipped almost immediately after being taken into care, requiring emergency surgery.

The 45-pound dog was in for a long-term recovery period. After some intensive care, he was fostered by Diane, mom to two other Weimies.

“He gained 10 pounds in his first 10 days he was staying with me. That told me he was definitely a good match,” she said.

Warning...there are photos at the thread that are heart-breaking, even though the guy pulled through and as you can see in the above, looks much better now.

It does my heart good to see this dog healed and happy. Dogs are such forgiving souls. They bounce back from adversity as if it never happened. All they want is a meal, a warm bed, and a kind word. In return, they radiate unconditional love. Pretty good deal for us humans, really.

My daughter and I were driving over the Hampton street bridge in Dallas on our way to my home in Oak cliff. We saw a dog on the sidewalk that runs along side the road on the bridge. We stopped and got the dog in the car, he was too weak to resist us. Once off the bridge, we stopped and got him some water (It was over 90 that day). We could tell he was in a bad way, so we took him to an emergency animal clinic. He had chip and the vet called the owner who said he did not want the dog. I gave them my credit card number and said do what it takes to save him. Later the vet called and said he'd been so hungry that he'd eaten rocks : his gut was full of rocks. He was too far gone to be saved. He was put down and at least at the end he knew someone cared about him.

How can people be so cruel and uncaring to animals, especially dogs, when all they want to do is to be your friend.

"Delete yours and I delete mine." What is that?

I tried to interject before a certain idiot came strolling through this one. Moron repellent used to work around here. Guess I'll go back to...nah. I'll wait for the genius response.
