Sorry, But This President's Actions Regarding Iran Should Have You Up In Arms!

Maybe If President Obama Had Sold ILLEGAL Arms To Iran, Republicans Would Call Him A Hero

April 5, 2015
By Allen Clifton

As most people have probably heard by now, the U.S., several of our allies and the Iranian government agreed upon a historic deal pertaining to Iran’s nuclear program. It’s a deal many experts are hailing as groundbreaking and some have even suggested that, if successful, could prevent a third world war down the line.

Now, clearly, any sort of talk like that is extremely premature as it’s very possible this deal could eventually fail. But it’s like I’ve said before, I would rather try to give diplomacy a chance to succeed rather than send thousands of Americans off to die in a war that could have been avoided. Well, about a year and a half ago I wrote an article with a headline very similar to this when all of these talks were still basically in their infancy stage. At the time, I mocked Republicans for being outraged that President Obama might dare try to use diplomacy to deal with Iran (some even suggesting he’s betraying his country) when almost every member of the GOP hails Ronald Reagan as a “conservative legend and American icon” – yet he illegally sold arms to Iran. Sure, Oliver North is the one who ultimately gets tagged with the “blame,” but you have to be an absolute moron to honestly believe that arms were being illegally sold to the Iranian government and the Reagan administration knew nothing about it.

But could you imagine the right-wing freak-out if, instead of simply agreeing to the framework of a deal on Iran’s nuclear program with several of our allies, the Obama administration was caught selling weapons illegally to the Iranian government?

It’s like I’ve often quipped, if President Obama did some of the things Reagan and/or George W. Bush did while they were in office, Republicans would be absolutely losing their minds. Yet to listen to many of them talk about President Obama, you’d think he was one of the most traitorous and deceitful in American history.

. . . one of them was a psychotic liar who never served a day of his life in combat, yet he wanted to kill 10s of 1000s of foreigners living in other countries so he could pretend he was like FDR, who actually had to lead the fight to win a world war, while simultaneously dragging the entire American economy into the toilet, handicapping the middle class for the next 20 years causing a world-wide panic resulting in the economies of nearly every other country in the entire world to stumble or completely collapse, at the very same time that he was handing out huge tax cuts in order to enrich his political buddies so they would donate generously to his re-election bid, as he also carved out huge loopholes in the tax code big enough for a semi to drive through, so as to make it common for corporations to steal even more money from the American people legally by mass producing faulty, shoddy products without ever being held accountable for it by the consumers!!!!

And the other one was Dubya Bush.

To the Iranian terrorists. He promised to sell weapons to the terrorists holding the American hostages if they held on to those hostages until he was made president. The minute he was sworn in, they released the hostages. See he was just keeping a promise he made to terrorists.

Now his promises to the American people, those he ignored.

If President Obama walked on water the GOP would say that it "proves" that blacks cannot swim.

As to the Iran Contra deal, Racist Ronnie was well on the way to senility at that point and probably believed whatever George H.W. Bush told him.

Their ability to deceive themselves and ignore the relevant facts is pretty amazing. They live and reason within a fantasy universe of their own creation. One could dismiss them as being insane if it were not that they have an inappropriate amount of political power and an .
irregularly large mouthpiece for their propaganda dillusions.

I do think the American people wouldn't stand for their shit if they managed to put 2 and 2 together. Unfortunately, attentions are short and many just dismiss it all with "both sides are equally corrupt." I guess we just have to keep working on sorting the truth from their relentless propaganda.

Tue Apr 7, 2015, 03:18 PM

what Ike did, if one considers regional issues. Please remember that during this time the Iraq-Iran War was raging, a senselessly brutal slaughter that dragged on to a stalemate in 1988. Here's why Reagan was worse than Ike, imo: at the exact same time that Reagan was selling arms to the Iranians (as the 'arms' part of the 'arms-for-hostages' component of Iran-Contra), he was dispatching Rumsfeld to Baghdad on a secret mission to re-establish diplomatic and commercial relations with Iraq and to provide Iraq with crucial military intelligence about Iranian troop dispositions). Why? Reagan wanted to use Iraq as a buffer against Iranian designs on the Gulf States and appeals to the majority Shi'a population in Saudi Arabia's oil fields in the east and south of Saudi Arabia.

IOW, Reagan was arming both sides in a war. That is some seriously fucked-up shit, even by the deplorable standards of American exceptionalism. Even if most Americans are unaware of this history, rest assured the people of the region are all to famiiar with our two-faced treachery.

Here's a little photo from the memory hole (December 20, 1983):

... is that the records of the deal that was struck between the Reagan CAMPAIGN (no, he WASN'T President yet!) and Iran might be revealed in it's entirety.

When Bani-sadr was elected President of Iran in 1980, he went to the Mullahs and said "We should let the hostages go," and was told "We can't!"

Bani-sadr has written about this incident, but it was never widely reported. By the summer of 1980, Iran was ALREADY getting parts to repair their weapons & jets, and all they had to do was to hold the hostages until Reagan was inaugurated. Which is why the plane carrying the hostages home took off at nearly the EXACT moment that Reagan's hand touched the Bible on the morning of Jan. 20, 1981.

74. New Reports Say 1980 Reagan Campaign Tried to Delay Hostage Release
Tue Apr 7, 2015, 05:37 PM
Apr 2015

by NEIL A. LEWIS,
Published: April 15, 1991

WASHINGTON, April 14— Persistent but unproven accusations that Ronald Reagan's 1980 presidential campaign negotiated a secret deal with Iran to prevent the release of American hostages until after the election are being revived this week with fresh accounts of meetings between campaign officials and an Iranian cleric.

One of the accounts is provided by Gary Sick, a Middle East specialist who helped handle the Iranian hostage crisis as a member of the White House staff in the Carter Administration. Mr. Sick, in an article published Monday on the Op-Ed page of The New York Times, says he has heard what he considers to be reliable reports that a secret deal involving the hostages was begun during two meetings between William J. Casey and the Iranian cleric in a Madrid hotel in July 1980.

The allegation that there were meetings between Mr. Casey, Mr. Reagan's campaign chairman, who went on be the Director of Central Intelligence, and Hojatolislam Mehdi Karrubi, a representative of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, has been reported for the first time by Mr. Sick. Research for a Book

He says in his article that the accounts of the meetings in Madrid are part of an accumulation of information he has developed in research for a book. He says it has led him to conclude, despite earlier doubts, that some kind of discussions took place between the Reagan campaign and Iran.
