Minneapolis Police, To Black Teen, "You F**k With Me, And I Will Break Your Leg"

Video,

Huff Post:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/04/06/cop-break-your-leg_n_7010540.html

A Minneapolis cop was caught on camera threatening to break the leg of a teenager who said he was racially profiled.

Hamza Jeylani, 17, said he and his three friends had just gotten finished playing basketball at the YMCA on March 18 when they were pulled over by police. Jeylani told MPR News the four made a U-turn when they saw police because they were hoping to avoid confrontation. The attempt failed.

"Plain and simple, if you fuck with me, I'm going to break your leg before you get the chance to run," officer Rod Webber can be heard saying in the video. "I'm being honest, I don't screw around."

This speaks for itself. I wonder what will happen after the so called, "investigation" of the incident is completed...It happened on March 18..Time will tell.

to resist or run away. It's taking charge of a situation. It sounds harsh, but it works.

I often told male suspects much bigger than me I wouldn't hesitate to knock their knees out with my baton or shoot them. Compliance rates were always higher and using that kind of "verbal judo" reduces the odds of having to actually go hands on and someone getting hurt.

And making a hasty u-turn just because you see a cop? Yeah, that's gonna probably get you pulled over. Nothing like going out of your way to act suspicious.

Having a badge doesn't magically entitle the cop to issue pre-emptive threats of harm.

If he can only control the situation by threatening to inflict injury, then he doesn't know how to control the situation.

They somehow believe treating people like criminals automatically is going to make them "fear" you.
When in the hell did protect and serve turn into bully and instill fear?!!

Being a dark skinned female usually dealing with much larger white males. Being aggressive in my speech was sometimes exactly what it took to head off much worse trouble.

Did I always do that? No, I had to read my audience. Did I always curse? No, but at times it added the emphasis I felt I needed.

Constant threats of violence backed up by statistics that say American cops kill black men more than any other group of people. Cops are racist and brutal. And we know it and see it everyday. They are making the streets more dangerous for all of us when they act like this. The crime rate is down. The police killing of civilians continues unchecked. I predict that there will be people who will retaliate against bad cops and 'good cops' and civilians will be in danger. This is because cops have no fucking self control and see themselves as street soldiers. They forget that they are outnumbered and that people remember. This needs to stop! Stop making excuses for this crap! Stuff like this leads to even worse stuff. It is not the job of police to create vigilantes or to cause violence. These kids did nothing to deserve the threats of Physical harm. You making excuses just makes it look worse and you look disingenuous.

It destroys the spirit of young black men who are spoken to in that way over and over again. it's not the solution, it is part of the problem.

And no, I don't mean because they're criminals, I mean because their skin is the wrong color. And if you doubt that, just look at the video of Chris Rock getting repeatedly pulled over when he's doing nothing wrong.

The age old, "If you run from the police you must have done something wrong" just doesn't fly anymore. There's plenty of reason for people to be scared of the police even when they've done nothing wrong.

Familiar with the tensions in Minneapolis and St Paul regarding the Somali Community, and this just throws gas on the fire. Anyone know which YMCA the kids were at? If it is the North Side, ouch,so much has been done to improve relationships. But,the Fourth Percent has a really ugly record of past abuses. Minneapolis has a relatively new Police Chief, and in saying that, she is still cleaning house and reorganizing the whole Police Department. Finally going back to Community Policing with the Police back on Beat Patrol. She sure has got the attention of the so called bad asses and the thumper cops.

Minneapolis PD,the new Chief is the real deal and she will not be intimidated by being a Female in what has been a all male Minneapolis Police upper management. Her biggest adversary is going out the door. The Guy is nothing more than a bully with a badge.

not easy, as she's about five feet tall , but she's lived in Mpls. for many years and was on the police brutality issue way, way before it took center stage -- as in early '90s.
