I hope we can raise twice as much...
I say, yes, we can.
So I looked and saw that Cyndi Lauper's True Colors Fund has set April 29 as the first national #40toNoneDay to end #LGBT youth homelessness! And I thought, would it not be totally awesome if we equality supporters (and pizza lovers) could match that #MemoriesPizza "charity" by April 29? Can we match their amount and help homeless youth get off the street, learn life skills and get an education and jobs?
I'm an dreamer, but I say yes, we can!
All proceeds will go to The True Colors Fund which works to end homelessness among lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender youth, creating a world in which young people can be their true selves. READ MORE HERE
The True Colors Fund is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Your contribution is tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ.

(12,647 posts)It's all rather sickening to see during the Easter holiday. I like the effort I posted much more. It's certainly more conducive to what good Christians would support.

(6,446 posts)if that $800 thousand plus translated to more than $100 thousand when all's said and done. Did you notice how many Anonymous donations there were?
Nonetheless, Go Cindy go! I've always loved her and this is a great charity. Be sure if they met their goal, all that money would actually be coming from us real folk.

(48 posts)If it's a charity, are people making money off it? Sometimes the "administration" costs are 10 or 20% off the top! And the other larger part is how we can create charities that are self-sustaining. I think Boys Town is an example of a community that trained boys in different skills and it was its own community with post office, etc. We need to not just have this endless funnel of money but seed money that sprouts into something that can be independent like a business with profits that go back into taking care of the homeless youth and adults.

(12,647 posts)That's pretty good. I've seen charities for veterans where the same percentage went to salaries and advertising.
