(Detroit Free Press) Gemma, a flat-coated retriever, wandered around for two days in Michigan's Thumb with an arrow sticking out the top of her head before she found caring hands to save her.
The blue and yellow arrow, fired from a crossbow, protruded straight up above her left eye narrowly missed the approximately 2-year-old dog's brain and optic nerve.
"It's a miracle," said Aimee Orn, chief animal control officer for Lapeer County. "It missed everything important by millimeters."
Now, Orn said, authorities are seeking felony animal cruelty charges against the dog's owner, who told investigators he shot the retriever in the head with a crossbow after she allegedly acted aggressively toward his other dog, a pug. .............(more)

(4,959 posts)There is a special place in hell for those who think shooting their pet dog in the head with an arrow is something they should do.
Fucking assholes. And I don't even 'believe' in hell per se.

(64,416 posts)No, seriously. At what point did this guy (from the article) consider that this was the right thing to do? You sir, are the dumbest fucking person in the world today. You made your parents proud.
Do the world a favor and go die.

My parents have a dog that was apparently beaten pretty badly as a puppy because she's still scared of pretty much everything; random strangers, me, the cat, the living room floor, loud noises, etc. She's gotten a little better in two years, but she will probably always be scared. Fortunately she's not scared of their other dog, or my mom, and often not of my stepdad (but he does make lots of loud noises).
