Obama Ventures Into Red States to Pitch His Economic Goals

HILL AIR FORCE BASE, Utah — He did not exactly bowl them over in Utah, or even in Kentucky. But he came anyway and maybe that was the real point.

President Obama ventured into Red America on Thursday and Friday to sell his economic agenda to small but polite audiences, and along the way he tried to demonstrate that both he and his ideas could travel anywhere in the country, even to the parts where he is deeply unpopular.

It would be hard for him to find a place where he is less popular than in Utah, the tourist-friendly mecca for skiers, hikers, Mormons and Republicans. The president received just 25 percent of the vote here in 2012, his lowest showing in any state, in a 50-point loss to his opponent, Mitt Romney, who now makes his home in Utah.

For obvious reasons, then, Mr. Obama had never made it to Utah since taking office, but when he landed on Thursday night, it became the 49th state he has visited as president. (South Dakota is now the lone standout.) While relegated to campaign in more Democrat-friendly states in the months before the fall midterm elections, Mr. Obama lately has made a point of visiting Republican-leaning states like Alabama, Idaho, Kansas, South Carolina and, in the last two days, Kentucky and Utah.

Nope they don't support him, many don't like him, that is their loss. He has proven time and again he is President of all the people.

Thinking he could travel to any ol' state in America!!!
Who does he think he is . . the President of the United States?

Uh-yup!

You know what gets me? The economy rebounded so fast here in Idaho that we didn't experience a huge exodus of people leaving the state like we did back in the early 1980's when Saint Ronnie was President.
Idaho topped the million resident mark in 1980, or sometime in 1981, only to see 10s of 1000s of people look elsewhere for work.
It's a crime that the Republicans don't give President Obama the credit for improving our economy.

In today's atmosphere, the lies the Republicans tell stand side by side with the naked truth of President Obama, and get equal airtime.
That is a travesty, honest to gawd.
It should be imperative for the mainstream media to give President Obama the lion's share of the credit for the economic recovery, but the mainstream media has become the voice of the radical right.

And that, is a huge public relations problem for President Obama, impacts the whole Democratic party, and affects every American.

The media never credits this President for the economy and the lying thieving GOP claims credit and sadly that is believed by far to many.

Thank you so very much, Major.

Alabama, Idaho, Kansas and South Carolina Republican-leaning?
The author of the article must have a different definition of leaning
I'd say they are the quagmire of republican states
