Am I just a self centered prick to think that it is unreasonable to sound an Amber Alert at that time?
Here's what happened; a father took off with his child and the alert was sounded within 200 miles of Flint Michigan. My wife and I heard this extremely loud and never heard before alert go off on my phone. For a moment I thought it was some fire alarm going off in my room, a fire alarm that I didn't know I had. After I realized it was coming from my phone I looked at the message that said be on the look out for a teal colored Ford pick up truck. Not having a view of the road from my bedroom my wife and I tried to go back to sleep but that was difficult after that adrenaline dump with both just experienced.

(1,689 posts)I certainly would want to know if a tornado was bearing down on me but not much I can do helping find someone on the road when I am sleeping.
And in the daytime there is a good chance I am traveling and would be more than happy to be on the lookout for a kidnapper.

(19,339 posts)There's no good timing for an Amber Alert. If notifications might disturb you, turn them off.

(22,336 posts)I got it too that early. And if I worked an odd shift and was at a shop at that time and saw them, I'd be glad to get it. That's the point. It alerts people in a timely manner.

(1,451 posts)No Tornado, No Hurricane, No Lightening Storm. Turn phone down at night and get some rest.
