Trevor Noah to Replace Jon Stewart as Host of "The Daily Show": Report

Trevor Noah, who joined Comedy Central's "The Daily Show" as an on-air contributor in December, will be named as the program's new host in place of the outgoing Jon Stewart, according to a report in the New York Times.

The 31-year-old South African comedian has appeared on "The Daily Show" only three times since his debut. Contacted via phone while in Dubai where is currently touring, Noah told the Times.

"You don't believe it for the first few hours," Noah, who is currently on tour in Dubai, told the Times. "You need a stiff drink, and then unfortunately you're in a place where you can't really get alcohol."
Stewart, 52, announced in February that he was leaving "The Daily Show" after 16 years. Comedy Central has not yet revealed an exit date for Stewart.

I've never heard of the guy. Not that I'm much of a TV or comedy show watcher in general. Mostly catch stuff online.

It was fine with Kilborn, it was perfect under Stewart and it will be fine with a new face as well.

I've not been a regular watcher for a few years, its just too macho and male-centered for me. I had a slight hope they might try to include some more female energy into the show with this opportunity of Jon leaving, but not to be.

... and The Daily Show has such high visibility that no one was willing to take the chance of it bombing.

At least when need be. He's well established on the UK comedy scene.
