serious question about the anti-gay laws

Would this law in Indiana and coming in Arkansas, allow the State government to discriminate against LGBT people? Since Indiana has the anti-equality amendment, would same sex couples be legally denied SNAP, drivers license, medicade, etc with the new law? Would individuals working in State government be allowed to refuse services based on their personal beliefs?

I think the way the law is written, it might actually be upheld by higher courts. Just like discrimination suits against private businesses in States where LGBT people are not a protected class.

I hate to post and run but I have a ton of work to do. But I have been wondering about this since yesterday.

I appreciate your input and will be back later.

Thank you

Mary

I certainly think it could easily be interpreted in Indiana courts that if a person got denied a drivers license by a bigoted employee couldn't sue over it.

discriminates against our LGBT brothers and sisters will soon discriminate against everybody those racists and haters dislike. Did you think it would stop at the LGBT water's edge? Of course not. Unless you're a White, wealthy land-owning MALE of the Christofascist kind, you will be discriminated against and harmed by their laws that hide behind religion.

That's why it's so important that ALL Americans to stand up against any law that discriminates against our LGBT brothers and sisters. Because it's just a matter of time before that law comes alive and expands on its own to inevitably include everyone not of the Christofascist, White, land-owning MALE kind.

I am part of the LGBT community. I have been saying that same thing about how the people of color are being discriminated against. This won't stop anywhere. The aim is to control us. Debtors prisons are back. The mentally ill are being thrown out, jailed or murdered. The transgender community is being attacked all over the place and with little help.

The fact we will all be a target eventually, except for the 1,possibly 3%, isn't why we need to fight for those of us that are already targets. But we will all be if we don't stop what is currently happening.

Thank you for your thoughts. Scary stuff. Just scary stuff

That's crazy. And what anti-equality amendment are you referring to?

I mean, there are all sorts of things wrong here, but let's not get carried away.

That the public votes on in 2016, that has passed the house and Senate.

I don't know that I am going too far. I hope I am. And I am just asking. When a law is passed that encourages discrimination, it's easy to believe that the discrimination will go as far as possible.

I appreciate your thoughts.
