Make big war until the people get sick and tired of it, then string things along until another hot spot flares up. Extra points if the next calamity happens between the announcement of the withdrawal date and the actual withdrawal. Then, with heavy hearts and many a frownie face, we will have no choice but to keep making war in the region because of this new threat. Meanwhile, the defense contractors keep raking in the dough, and we have to cut services and benefits for our own citizens because, you know, war and stuff.

first time Egypt and Saudi Arabia got involved in Yemen's civil war, either (though this time they're on the same side). This at least looks like a less volatile situation than the 60's, where Egyptian involvement has often been compared to America's involvement in Vietnam, and the conflict threatened to spread out into a larger one between Saudi Arabia and Egypt (I believe there were some limited clashes).
