Country Radio Pulling Little Big Town's "Girl Crush" Over Complaints of Song's "Gay Agenda"

Normally, I wouldn't post anything from "The Hollywood Reporter", but this dovetails with both the anti- LGBT crap we've seen far too much of in recent days, and something I was thinking about; when did country music become so awful- musically and politically?

In the 80s, I listened to people like Lyle Lovett, Mary-Chapin Carpenter, Lucinda Williams, Emmylou Harris and Delbert Mcclinton. I still love those musicians and that music.

Sure there are bands like the Avett Brothers, but country music has become almost militantly right wing.

Anyway, here's the article:

Little Big Town's new song "Girl Crush" is reportedly being yanked from country radio stations over concerns the song's lyrics are too lesbian.

Boise, Idaho radio host Alana Lynn from the country station 104.3 told the Washington Post she received a flurry of calls and emails accusing her of "promoting the gay agenda" after playing the song, which is about a woman's jealousy of her ex-boyfriend's new love.

Lynn said listeners even threatened to boycott the station. As a result, she had to pull the song from her morning line-up.

Among the lyrics: "I want to taste her lips, yeah cause they taste like you / I want to drown myself in a bottle of her perfume / I want her long blond hair, I want her magic touch / Yeah cause maybe then, you’d want me just as much. . . I got a girl crush."

The issue isn't just affecting Idaho. According to the Washington Post, multiple radio stations across the country have pulled the song for similar reasons.

6. Little Big Town actually has some talent, too, among country acts.

I stopped listening to country after the Dixie Chicks were tossed out, the serious singers and songwriters were ignored, and the Kenny Chesney clones and silly little girls (Taylor Swift and Miranda Lambert and Carrie Underwood) began clogging the airwaves.

would be those songs that promote/accept drug abuse, spousal abuse, usage of women as sex toys, and an abandonment of all responsibility.
