New Yorkers do help (re: E.Village fire)

http://www.nytimes.com/2015/03/27/nyregion/after-east-village-blast-a-familiar-sight-new-yorkers-to-the-rescue.html?_r=0

"After East Village Blast, a Familiar Sight: New Yorkers to the Rescue

First there was the smell of gas, then an explosion and a burst of flying glass. Smoke and a hail of hot ash spattered onto the pavement of Second Avenue in the East Village as a red-brick building folded into itself on Thursday afternoon. Flames licked out of some windows, and the bottom floors blew out.

The blast and fire, which injured at least 19 people, four critically, also served as a call to action for those who could help."

"Kitty Genovese" is a myth. PoliticAverse Mar 2015 #1
But the myth was referred to again in DU LiberalElite Mar 2015 #2
You should clarify your statement. Kitty Genovese DID get killed. The myth part is that not shraby Mar 2015 #3

the numbers that were claimed saw the whole thing because of how it happened and where it happened.
It did cause a system to be put in place for people to easily report an attack or a crime being committed, which may not have come about if it weren't for the outrage the story engendered.
