Keith Olbermann calls on sports leagues to abandon ‘medieval’ Indiana over anti-gay law

ESPN’s Keith Olbermann has called on the National College Athletic Association and National Football League to boycott Indiana until the state repeals a new law that protects businesses that refuse to provide services to same-sex couples.

-snip-

But critics say the new law undermines local ordinances that prohibit discrimination against customers based on their sexual orientation. Olbermann is among them:

Keith Olbermann ✔ @KeithOlbermann

Simple fact: after Indiana enacts a law permitting prejudice against some of its customers, NCAA should pull Final 4 out of Indy. Right now

2:22 PM - 26 Mar 2015

Keith Olbermann ✔ @KeithOlbermann

I don't care if Final 4 winds up being played in a parking lot in Tulsa, NCAA has no right to support legally codified hatred and stupidity

2:24 PM - 26 Mar 2015

Keith Olbermann ✔ @KeithOlbermann

If a state wants to pretend this is 1955 and not 2015, dandy. You want to make some customers "illegal"? Prepare to be left behind.

2:25 PM - 26 Mar 2015

Keith Olbermann ✔ @KeithOlbermann

And for that matter the NFL should play no games in Indiana until and unless this hateful, medieval measure is repealed.

2:26 PM - 26 Mar 2015

Keith Olbermann ✔ @KeithOlbermann

And if you fall back on the discredited "orientation is a choice," ask yourself: what is religion if not a choice? Or passing hate laws?

I'm in favor of organizations taking their business elsewhere, but that's too short a timeframe.

I watch his ESPN show, he's quite funny - and lately something seems a little different. It may be nothing but just maybe he'll get both feet back into political talk.

He's too liberal, plus corporate media is all gung ho for Christianity, although cha-ching is more powerful than faith.

Saw it somewhere but couldn't remember where. And, the production costs for his show are minimal. It's a 2 camera shoot (once in a while 3 for a long shot, like when he had the doggie on.)

He's probably safe for now, and with his experience, i'm sure his contract is pretty specific about what he can and can't say.

Even if it's only one night a week. There's the 10pm slot on Friday night after Rachel now filled the totally worthless, space saver program Lock Up. KO never pulled punches. Miss his barbs at Bill,O the Clown.

We need a real, true progressive TV network. Aren't there any super rich progressive billionaires out there? MSNBC is ok but they're too close to Comcast whom would probably dump them in a minute if the current primetime hosts farted in the exec restrooms.

Air America was a flop and MSNBC is always last in the ratings. there are plenty out there with a ton of cash, turner, Soros, etc, but their convictions stop when they are gonna lose money

I'm told dads fuming. smh the law it built in such a way that it takes away the right of religion and sets the government in it's way. so it's a hate law. nothing to do with religious freedom. more like anti. don't want govt telling churches what to do..

It seems that the bigots are going to try the same tactic that they tried after Rove v Wade. They cannot defeat gay marriage directly so they are going to try to chip away at gay rights with regressive laws like this.
