(15,438 posts)a very wily (although anti-American) Mitch McConnell. He'll try to out maneuver the next Democratic majority leader with every senatorial trick his masters instruct their high-paid lawyers to find for him.

(25,253 posts)Dick Durbin is my choice. He's a seasoned Senator and is savvy in the ways and maneuvers of the Senate.

(25,253 posts)which I think is the wrong choice - though he is a seasoned veteran. I think it's a snub to Durbin - that I thought was second in line now to Harry.

He'd never get it. Not a chance.
I don't understand why people let their fantasies run wild over reality.

(2,097 posts)Majority Leader has to be someone who can unite the whole party and be a master or parliamentary maneuvering. Durbin for leader, Warren for chair of either Banking or Finance.

(5,586 posts)Let's face it, we're going to have to compromise at some point, and I don't want Warren to have to be the one to try and sell that.
She's better as a part of the leadership that represents us (liberals).

(508 posts)Do not appoint as the leader someone from a state who won his/her last
election by a 0.02% margin.
Appoint someone who has a solid position in their home state ...
so they can actually advance something that looks like a
Democratic agenda.

I'm in favor of a fresh face.
