Milpitas High School senior Miguel Gonzalez saddled up a unique idea for asking his crush to the prom this morning.
He said he borrowed a horse from a friend's ranch in the Milpitas hills, trailered it to Sandalwood Park across from Milpitas High, trotted on campus during first period, and asked Catalina Hernandez to the big dance. What Gonzalez probably didn't expect to get, other than a "yes" to the prom, was a two-day suspension from Milpitas High.
"Today was salad dressing day, because it was Spirit Day, and one of the themes was dressing up as ranch salad, and ranch ... country related, so I showed up with my cowboy boots and everything on a horse," said Gonzalez, whose family owns a horse ranch. "Well I was there for a bit and I knew people would come like security so I tried to leave, but on my way I heard the principal screaming ... they said, 'What if someone had gotten hurt' ... I kind of knew I was going to get into trouble, but I thought it was going to be detention or Saturday school, but not suspended."
The proposal, captured on video and in pictures posted to Twitter, show Gonzales, 17, riding up to the Hernandez's classroom on the horse -- named "Romeo" -- holding up a sign asking her to go to prom with him. The video also captures Hernandez (who is dressed in a Caesar-like toga, as in the salad dressing) running out of her classroom shrieking "yes."

(44,173 posts)He got his prom date, and nobody will care about any of this in a few years.
Take the suspension days off and go to the movies. Or go to the mall. Or go fishing. Have fun, and piss off the administrator fuckwits even more.

Gonzalez, who is meeting with school administrators at 5 p.m. today, said, "My only regret is not actually talking to the principal beforehand and actually trying to figure out a way to do it where I wouldn't get into trouble."
sounds like both sides were pretty reasonable about it. 2 days' suspension is not a big deal.
