Sort of a gut thing... I just feel Yanni is my peoples. I'm an odd Yanni listener because I never listened to him before 9/11----although maybe I heard him once in an elevator.

Was it the 9/11 influenced album "The Rising" that turned you off? Bruce was pretty outspoken during the Shrub years.

(80,708 posts)His album of Pete Seeger covers cooks, too. He's done some good work lately, pretty impressive for someone who has been at it for 4 decades.
Say what you will about the guy, he's a heavyweight of American Rock and Roll.

(12,530 posts)She sold 300 million records and I'd never heard of her, at least to my recollection. But yeah, you have a point about that whole unpatriotic bastard thing.

(26,505 posts)was a kid I'd watch TBS on cable and they ran commercials for both The Great Zamfir and Nana Moskouri pretty much back to back. That's how I even know those names.

(12,530 posts)But I guess in my area, we got Boxcar Willie commercials instead of Nana Moskouri commercials.

(6,409 posts)Yanni can do that circular breathing thing, allowing him to play one note for several minutes. Can Springsteen do that? And he calls himself The Boss!
Anyway, it was great when the Reagan campaign used Bruce's Born in the USA at rallies. I guess they never listened to the lyrics, just the chorus. I thought they should have used Ian Drury's Sex and Drugs and Rock and Roll.
