Just called my Tea Party animal who is supposed to represent me on HR 492

first I told her, as I was trying to speak (I felt like spitting nails), I hope you can tell I'm trying to hold myself back here, because I am absolutely livid.

I told her politicians have no right to legislate medical procedures. Especially men. I said if this was to be done on a man, there is no way they would ever consider legislating a man's medical health. I can't imagine one man in Congress voting to require that someone shove something up his behind or down his urethra. Just can't imagine, cuz FREEDUMB.

She said Oh no there are lots of women in Congress. I said yep, 20%, that is nothing, nothing.

Then she has the gall to say a lot of people in Congress are Doctors. I said, oh, yes, like the one who claims to be an M.D. who says
that you can't get pregnant when raped? That's not a doctor speaking, and that isn't medicine or science. That's about shoving your own personal morality decisions down the throats of more than 1/2 of the country...and that's just the female citizens, whereas pregnancy also involves males, too....

I told her about ten times, as she tried to actually dispute my point, that I have frequently been very active in local politics, and this issue will get me back out the door. I'll pound on thousands of doors to get him tossed out of Congress if he opens his mouth on this bill at all, and dares to say anything except 'politicians do not have the right to require a medical procedure'.

I told her that I don't like ANYTHING that he does in Congress anyway, but this issue will leave me flaming hot, more than fired up and ready to go, and I'll be pounding on doors of every woman in the county and getting them aware and ready to vote him out.

I cannot believe the stupidity of this woman, who simply had to record my opinion and log in my call, to actually try to debate with a caller on this topic. Especially a caller who says up front that she has knocked on thousands of doors over the years, and been very active when she could be, and that this issue would make it a HUGE priority for me and an enormous motivation to get her boss voted out. Who in the world hired this person to be in a political position? Just another indication of what a jerk this guy is. And he is a fascist jerk.

On edit: regarding my pronoun choices, I was speaking to a woman that answered the phone in his local office in York, Pa. My reptard is Scott Perry, rue the day.

It certainly deserves to be.

And she needs to be afraid for her job. My god!

Best of luck!

passed his tent at the Fairgrounds. My husband couldn't resist saying to the volunteers, "You guys must really be depressed, huh?"

They started talking about how wonderful Corbett was for forcing, or attempting to force, public schools to close and go charter.... one of the primary reasons the jerk lost the election. And this was in York, Pa, the very place he was trying to do this right at that time. The place where my husband was a teacher for 29 years and now substitutes, the place where all our friends work, and have worked for 15 years and more, and where teachers with seniority are being harassed as an attempt to get them to quit only because they need to cut payroll because of Corbett. The place that determined I was not ever going to be able to use my 2008 summa cum laude degree to teach high school social studies, because more than half of all teaching jobs had been cut, because of Corbett's destruction of public school spending by the state (and it was already horribly low).

I got hot under the collar, and I said, You need to realize you are speaking to a group of York City school teachers. The boneheads went on, totally enthusiastic about what a wonderful person Corbett was in his 'support' of public education.

And then, there was the reason I signed up for DU, instead of being just a lurker, in 2003. I had just moved here, and the Republican Party called me and wanted me to volunteer for W's reelection. At first I was polite, and said, I'm sorry, you must have me on a wrong list. I am solid blue Dem, my entire life, a Maryland Dem, as are my parents and my entire family. He responded with something like, "When are you available to volunteer." I said, you must not have heard me. I am a Democrat. Then I think he tried to speak of the glories of GW, at which point I began to educate him. He still kept asking me to volunteer. And he didn't seem to be goading me, he seemed to be blatantly stupid. I signed up for DU that night, and within a week or two, became active in the local Dem party office.

The stupid, it hurts.

5. They just keep plowing along, don't they? It's as though you're not really there, on the phone.

to her comment about 'there are a lot of women in Congress' by saying
20% isn't 'a lot', it is nothing, nothing at all.

The woman on the phone just stopped short and didn't know what to say.

But then, she would be used to Perry's support base, which would be Faux News types.

I wish these people would do real town halls, so I could go yell at them like I used to do.

Now the chickens just do over the phone town halls, and they can choose who gets to ask a question
or not, pre-select, so it's just propaganda, not a chance to speak and be heard.

They will log you into the phone call ledger and that will be the end of it.
It's unfortunate that none of your frustration will be voiced to it's intended recipient.

At any rate, he WILL know if he opens his mouth about this topic, because I'll make sure he knows, personally.

Recently we've had Union people protesting outside his office on a regular basis because he is a big union-busting jerk,
just one of his many horrible qualities. They'd be happy to have me join them. I'll just add some more signs.

7. You need also to write a letter, or send an email.

Whoever you were talking to may or may not pass on what you said. A letter or email is a bit harder to ignore.

But good for you for making the phone call.
