Martese Johnson's feet were shackled night of his arrest

Being beaten for no reason, arrested on false charges and cuffed wasn't enough. The ABC cops also shackled this honor student's feet.

This has to end. It has to. It just has to

ABC News Chicago report on Martese Johnson, a Chicagoan, arrest.

UVA STUDENT MARTESE JOHNSON 'SHOCKED' BY VIOLENT ARREST, VOWS TO FIGHT CHARGES

"At no time throughout the encounter did Martese present, as has been reported by some in the media, a fake ID. Nevertheless, Virginia ABC officers who were present on the scene questioned by client about being in possession of fake ID," said Daniel Watkins, Johnson's attorney.

Here is how police say it happened. Their arrest report cited Johnson as "very agitated and belligerent" and suggesting that he was intoxicated, stating that he would be released on $1,500 bail "when sober."

But he was not legally drunk, blowing only a. 02

Another ABC News report

Bar Owner Says Martese Johnson Was 'Cordial, Respectful'

The co-owner of the Charlottesville bar that Martese Johnson tried to enter before his bloody arrest said that the University of Virginia student was "cordial and respectful" and did not appear to be drunk.

Maybe, just maybe, this time, the cops don't have a prayer of escaping justice. But we thought that with Eric Garner, John Crawford, the innocent child, Tamir Rice and so many others.

At what point will the federal government step in and end the insanity?

The disconnect from reality is almost too much to take.
This is why I think that schools are failing. Not because of math scores, but because basic civics and cultural history are not taught.
They can't be easily quantified on standardized tests.

As a result we all get stuck with a bunch of ignorant tone deaf racists and bigots who in turn elect a bunch of ignorant tone deaf racists and bigots who then systematically destroy whatever fragile progress we have made toward racial and sexual equality over the last 50 years....

Wed Mar 25, 2015, 11:24 AM
Mar 2015

Here is a scary thought. The charge of public intoxication does not have a sobriety test attached to it. The charge is solely at the discretion of the officer and what he or she determines to be public. Same goes for disorderly conduct it is simply up to the officer to determine what they will or will not accept. I am surprised that a BAC was actually preformed. Probably because of the injury he suffered and they wanted to ensure that he was in fact intoxicated which turned out not to be the case. Also being released on bail for such a minor offense is truly odd.

On a different note each year I go to an annual brew festival that is held outside of Leesburg Virginia in June. At the last one there was this motor coach/tour bus that was decked out in the colors of the Commonwealth of Virginia. It turns out that the Alcohol Control Board in Virginia has a rather large budget and so they bought nice toys that they take to events like this and then arrest people if they appear to be intoxicated. Gotta make money somehow since we have cut the tax base.

107. Yes, when they get crowded, this business limits to 21 and older
Wed Mar 25, 2015, 03:31 PM
Mar 2015

Normally, the businesses that sell alcohol allow persons under 21 to enter but not drink. On St. Patrick's Day night, this business decided to limit entry to persons over 21, so they could sell more alcohol. Martese may not have realized that, until he had a cordial conversation with the co-owner, who was originally from his same hometown of Chicago.

In any case, Martese had showed a valid ID showing he was 20 years old. Then the 3 alcohol agents took him down and bashed his head into the sidewalk.

The alcohol agents had warned the co-owner in advance that they would be watching his business closely because it had the word "Irish" in its name and because they needed to prevent "a riot." Because the ABC agents had warned him that they were going to be watching his business closely, the co-owner decided to personally work the door.

This restaurant is immediately across the street from the large UVa Medical Center and the part of UVa that was designed by Mr. Jefferson, in the middle of a row of pleasant student-oriented businesses.

It must be the skin color, there is no other reason I can think of. That young man looks harmless. Besides, I just read that the place he was going into is a restaurant and a bar. So he might have been going inside to eat.

2015 and a black man cannot enter a restaurant on a college campus, without getting beatdown by racist cops.

Totally unacceptable.

I think there's some truth to what you say, but believe it's mostly just racist, hateful action committed by stupid cops.

Any little excuse to go through your stuff, get into your house or your car, look at your wallet contents. God Forbid you get 'upset' with the oppression. They'll hurt you or kill you if you speak at them.

police should not even be allowed to handcuff or ground people or use shockers on them

Have you seen the ACLU findings on Chicago cops that came out yesterday? Worse than NYPD. And don't even have a reason

the bar is too high, so all the DoJ can to is issue "reports" that are damning, but which the
M$M virtually ignore altogether. This is just how it is.

Or so says Eric Holder.

"He's lucky he's alive. " but in the reality of the militarized police, the impunity when killing mentally ill and the poor, people of color and most often young black men, or just beating them bloody, it's the reality that is our racist, law enforcement society.

Really sucks. Beyond unconscionable. Horrific

3 agents vs 30-40 students? Instead they chose to just stand around and film it.

Without ending up in jail and beaten themselves. Or worse.

It is an interesting thought. No doubt that the crowd could have stopped it. But it would not take long for many more cops to show up and even less time for one of them to pull out their weapon and use it on a few people.

In a case like this, where it is so obvious that the cops are in the wrong, I wonder what would have happened in court. I know what should happen, but I believe that each person defending Johnson would end up doing time.
