Yes, the debt is of concern, but President Obama's strides in fighting the deficit is under-reported to say the least.

(7,290 posts)President Obama has brought deficits down, but the debt has gone up by about 70%. Obviously, bringing deficits down helps lower the increase in the debt, and it isn't discussed enough, but the looming problem is the debt.

(55,981 posts)Using Keynes' aggregate demand equation, we see $1 trillion has left the economy. Not sure that's a thing to celebrate, though it would explain a few things about the softness in demand generally.
I'm not saying this as a slight against Obama, I'm saying it because arguing over who balances the budget better is an argument over who's the bigger fiscal conservative. It's an argument that only the rich win.
